Razer DeathAdder Essential : Right for Gaming!

Gamers must be familiar with the 3 snake head logo, a trademark that produces quality products, especially in products for gaming. Razer has managed to have a fanbase in almost all continents. The company has developed and built the largest gamer oriented ecosystem of hardware, software and services.

Like this mouse which we will review.

    MOUSE OVERVIEW

This legendary model from Razer has marked gamers for over 10 years. In 2018, the DeathAdder Essential got a makeover and retains its reliability and ergonomic shape.

    • Although this mouse is the entry level of the Razer brand, it performs very well . It has a 6400 DPI optical sensor, 5 “Hyperesponse” programmable buttons and a lifespan of 10 million clicks.
    • We also find the iconic green lighting on the Razer logoand the dial. It is a light wired mouse with its 96 grams and has a cable of 1.80 meters.

    UNIVERS – GAMES REVIEW

The DeathAdder Essential Mouse has excellent value for money with a powerful and ergonomic mouse. If you don’t need more than 2 extra buttons in the game and are on a low budget, this is probably a great choice!

    RAZER PRECISION

The Razer DeathAdder “Essential” or classic, was designed for gaming, but does well for all situations on a computer. It has a 6400 DPI optical sensor.

    • It can travel 220 inches per second (IPS) with a maximum acceleration of 30 G which is relatively fast.
    • The mouse has an ultrapolling of 1000 Hz (response time of 1 ms) which is excellent for games, you will not feel any latency!
    • For the price of the DeathAdder, the precision is incredible as often with Razer, you could not ask for better.

    ERGONOMICS & DURABILITY

The shape of the mouse is simplistic, but that’s what makes its strength, the hand is very well suited to the overall shape . The dial as well as the two buttons on the side are intelligently placed.

    • Remember that this is a model for right-handed users, it also exists for left-handed users, but it is not exactly the same version.
    • We can also talk about the size of the mouse: 12 cm length x 7.3 cm in width x 4.3 cm height, which makes the mouse quite long and very small hands will not be comfortable.
    • Let’s end by saying, that the left / right clicks are quite loud and unfortunately it doesn’t have rubber grips on the right side for holding during long gaming sessions.

    GAMING FEATURES

In terms of functionalities, it is quite fast, so there are 2 additional buttons on the thumb. Which are programmable via the “Razer Synapse 3” application (complete and easy to use software).

    • The backlighting is a single color “green”, if you want RGB lighting, you will have to start with a higher model like the Razer Mamba.
    • Via Razer Synapse, you can adjust performance like DPI directly and save game settings.
    • To finish, the Razer DeathAdder Essential mouse comes with a 2 year warranty and is Xbox compatible for basic controls.

Razer also produces a product called RAZER DeathAdder Elite Gaming Mouse, don’t forget to read also who knows this mouse is right for you.

A true gamer must have one of the tools branded razer , do you have a razer brand?

  • Razer Orochi V2 Review, software and manual support

    RAZER OROCHI V2 REVIEW

The Razer Orochi V2 is a compact and ultralight mouse, capable of operating wirelessly via Bluetooth or 2.4 Ghz. Compared to the previous Orochi, its ergonomics are improved and its design can be customized from the Razer site.

The mouse is positioned as an alternative to the Logitech G305 and Corsair Katar Pro Wireless, with a much more contained weight but a higher price at 79.99 €.

    Razer Orochi V2 review

If you are looking for a wireless and lightweight gaming mouse, you should generally look to ones with an internal rechargeable battery. Problem, the vast majority of models available are offered above the 100 € bar ( G Pro X Superlight , Viper Ultimate , Prime Wireless).

Razer Orochi V2 – Test and opinion on the brand’s new wireless gaming mouse
With the Razer Orochi V2, the manufacturer hopes to change the situation and offers for the first time a mouse combining lightness and battery power. Enough to overshadow the famous Logitech G305 or the most recent SteelSeries Rival 3 Wireless .

    Design & Ergonomics

If we recently had the opportunity to present you with very compact mice with the Razer Viper Mini , Xtrfy M42 and other Cooler Master MM710 , the new Razer Orochi V2 goes even further. With dimensions of 108 x 60 x 38 mm, it is positioned as one of the most compact mice in the sector and only the recent Xtrfy MZ1 comes close to its size.

In reality, this format can be explained by the very DNA of the Orochi range, initially designed to meet the needs of the most mobile gamers, and in particular laptop PC users.

To believe the visuals offered by the brand, this Orochi V2 retains this idea, but many “ Desktop” players are now also looking for this compactness giving them better handling.

And precisely, with its rounded shape more commonly called “Egg Shape”, the new mouse from Razer is an example of comfort and handling. Compared to the previous version, this V2 displays much more worked symmetrical lines and you quickly feel at ease once your hand is placed on it.

The Orochi V2 against the competition

If with its contained dimensions we will not necessarily recommend it for Palm Grip aficionados , in Claw Grip or Fingertips the Orochi V2 works miracles.

The grip is stable, secure and comfortable enough to chain parts without feeling discomfort or pain.

Its light weight also limits fatigue while making it easier for the mouse to move around when playing with reduced sensitivity.

    Razer Orochi V2 ergonomics

The weight precisely, let’s talk about it. Razer announces on its technical sheet only 60 g for this new Orochi, but this is a measurement made without its battery. And as it is necessarily necessary to add one, this indication is more misleading than anything else.

Here, the brand offers several options. By removing the upper shell of the mouse, there are indeed two locations allowing you to choose between an AA or AAA battery.

Also, note that unlike the competition, the locations here are inclined so as to better distribute the total weight of the mouse. Rather well seen!

Mouse is powered by one AA or AAA battery

Also under the shell, we will note the presence of an insert for storing the USB dongle so as not to lose it when traveling.

With the AA lithium battery in the box, we arrive at a weight of 74 g. If it is more than the 60 g announced by Razer, it remains well below a Logitech G305 at 99g (AA alkaline battery) or a Corsair Katar Pro Wireless at 96 g (AA alkaline battery).

In practice, the mouse is closer to wireless models incorporating a battery. Such as the Glorious Model O Wireless at 69 g, the SteelSeries Aerox 3 Wireless at 66 g or the Razer Viper Ultimate at 74 g.

    Mouse shell can be customized

In practice, the rendering of its personalized cases is quite clean and allows the mouse to stand out a little more from the competition. On the other hand, it will take 20 € more for these custom models, pushing up the bill to 99 €. It stings a bit.

On the controls side, the Orochi V2 goes to the essentials with 5 programmable buttons and its dial. The two main clicks are equipped with switches designed in collaboration with the Kailh brand and offer a perfectly responsive activation.

No post or pre-travel to report, nor any horizontal play.

    Mouse buttons are all responsive

The dial has its side of notches rather well marked and its use is again very pleasant. Behind, a last button allows by default to navigate between its different DPI levels and a light indicator allows you to check the selected sensitivity.

Also, if you are using Razer Synapse, a popup will briefly appear in the corner of your screen with your DPI level. Since the mouse is mainly designed for right-handed players, only the left front has two side buttons.

Despite a fairly thin design, they remain perfectly accessible and benefit from a straightforward and responsive activation. It changes the somewhat “soft” clicks of the Logitech G Pro X Superlight for example.

    PTFE pads provide good glide

At the rear, the mouse has two large PTFE pads and a third surrounding the optical sensor. The glide is very correct and we enjoy excellent handling in combination with its light weight and wireless connection.

Still on the base of the mouse, there is also a switch to switch between the different wireless connection modes.

    Connection & Autonomy

Unlike a G305, the Razer Orochi V2 has two wireless connection modes: via Bluetooth or 2.4 Ghz using a USB dongle. These are also its only connection modes, since it is not possible to use it wired.

The 2.4 Ghz mode allows you to enjoy a wireless connection without the slightest latency and it is obviously the one we favor when gaming.

During our tests, nothing to complain about the reliability of the connection but we would still have appreciated finding a USB extension in order to be able to bring it closer to your mouse.

The dongle for the 2.4 Ghz wireless connection

The Bluetooth connection can be used to connect the Orochi V2 without going through the USB dongle. As often, this connection can generate a certain latency and we recommend it only for office automation or games that do not require perfect responsiveness.

As for the autonomy, it is difficult to give you a precise figure because the results can vary widely depending on the connection mode but also on the type of battery used.

With the AA lithium battery provided in the box, Razer advertises up to 950 hours in Bluetooth and 425 hours in 2.4 Ghz mode.

    Switch Connection Modes

A switch allows you to switch between the two wireless connection modes
Obviously, with an alkaline AA battery as well as a smaller capacity AAA battery, keep in mind that these results will have to be revised downwards.

To get a better idea of the autonomy of the mouse according to your usage habits, Razer offers on its site a small utility to facilitate this calculation.

Finally, note that the mouse only works wirelessly.

    Razer Synapse software

The mouse is compatible with Razer Synapse software, which you can download for free from the manufacturer’s website. From there, you can create different configuration profiles according to your games or applications and load them automatically.

From the “Customize” tab, it is possible to modify the mapping of all the buttons of the Orochi V2, except that of the left click. The brand offers a rather comprehensive list of actions, but it is also possible to create your own macros.

There is also the option “HyperShift”, which allows to assign a secondary action to the buttons of the mouse. To access it, you will need to assign the “HyperShift” command to one of the buttons and then hold it down to switch to secondary actions. Enough to double the number of shortcuts in the blink of an eye.

Last feature of this tab: device synchronization detailed a little earlier in our article.

    Software and Manual Guide Support

    Software Support And manual guide

    Feature for Raccot Orochi V2

From the “Performance” tab, it is possible to adjust up to 5 sensitivity levels between 100 and 18,000 DPI with a step of 100 DPI. You can also configure the polling rate up to 1000 Hz.

There is then a tab to calibrate the sensor according to its mouse pad as well as options related to the power supply. Here we can in particular set an automatic standby time or activate a “Low consumption” mode from a certain percentage of autonomy.

    Sensor

The mouse has a Razer 5G optical sensor. It is probably a variant of the PixArt PMW3335, capable of climbing up to 18,000 DPI, handling speeds of 450 IPS and accelerations of 50G.

In use and as is often the case, not much to complain about on this side. The mouse responds perfectly to the slightest movements and impossible to unhook the sensor for the common people.

    Razer Sphex 3

To accompany the release of its Orochi V2, Razer has also unveiled a new Sphex V3 mouse pad. It is also a very compact and above all very thin model, with dimensions of 270 x 215 mm for a thickness of only 0.4 mm.

As with the mouse of the day, it is designed to be easily carried in a bag or laptop bag for example. It has a rigid gliding surface and its grippy base helps stabilize it when placed on a desk.

    Conclusion

This Razer Orochi V2 is a nice surprise! Comfortable, manoeuvrable and versatile, it is placed like a competitor of size vis-a-vis the Logitech G305.

Lighter than its opponent, it should be able to appeal to FPS players but also office-oriented users thanks to the addition of a Bluetooth connection.

    GOOD POINTS

    •  Compact and lightweight
    •  Excellent comfort
    •  Dual wireless connection
    •  Customizable case
    •  General performance

    NEGATIVE POINTS

    •  High price
    •  No wired connection
    •  Slightly thin side buttons
  • Razer Basilisk V2 mouse review : a world of possibilities

    Razer Basilisk V2

Razer Basilisk V2 mouse review: a world of possibilities

The first Basilisk of the name had received the excellent score of 18/20 when we tested it in October 2018. Water has flowed under the bridges since then and the other players in the sector have also lined up mice with recognized qualities. Does Razer’s FPS-Cut Mouse 2020 still have what it takes to stay at the top of the table?

As with the recently tested Deathadder V2 , Razer opted for a change in continuity since, at first glance, the Basilisk V2 retains the curvaceous design and taut lines of the previous version. Looking more closely, we can see some very present differences.

A thick oblique line with a shiny black finish now surrounds the mouse, separating the upper part (buttons and wheel) from the rest. The modification is purely aesthetic and somewhat reinforces the aggressive lines of the mouse.

    Button Adjustment

The mouse sensitivity adjustment buttons positioned behind the wheel have also been revised, more square in shape, the bottom button has its lower side marrying the oblique line mentioned above while the top button rotates to present one of its edges on the user’s finger, making it more easily identifiable in the heat of the moment.

Finally, the grip changes texture and goes from a grooved rubber to a textured rubber identical to that of the Deathadder V2.

We also note that, on the right side, the grip rises a little higher than on the 2018 version. The notched wheel still has a resistance adjustment positioned under the mouse, just like the profile change button.

what the button at this mouse?

Regarding the buttons precisely, in addition to the usual left and right clicks and the two sensitivity adjustment buttons, note the three slice buttons, the profile change button located under the mouse and especially the three buttons on the wheel.

Because in addition to the usual classic vertical click, the wheel of the Basilisk V2 now offers two transverse clicks! A lack noted in 2018 which is therefore filled here, thank you Razer.

On the other hand, we note the usual ambiguity of the number of programmable buttons announced on the product sheet, which can lead to confusion. Note: The Basilisk V2 has 11 physical buttons. Of these 11 buttons, only 10 are programmable, with Razer excluding the left click for obvious reasons. On the other hand, Synapse proposes to add the two front / rear directions of the wheel to the count, bringing the total number of programmable inputs to 12.

We therefore have 11 physical buttons, 10 of which are programmable and a total of 12 possible inputs. Inside, same treatment as for the Deathadder V2: sensitivity now rises to 20,000 DPI via the adoption of the Focus + sensor , Omron switches are replaced by Razer optical switches guaranteed for 70 million clicks, the pads adopt the PTFE to ensure optimal glide and the USB cable is adorned with the house Speedflex braiding.

Fishing compared to the previous version

On the other hand, where the Basilisk V2 is fishing compared to the previous version. it is at the level of the third side button equipped with a paddle that we called “sniper key” during the test of the previous model.

We noticed at the time that the mouse was delivered with 2 pallets of different lengths. In 2020, the Basilisk V2 is only delivered with a single pallet, which is all the more regrettable as this pallet is really at the heart of the novelties offered by this version.

Because indeed, THE novelty to remember on this Basilisk V2 is the Hypershift. The Hypershift?. It is this function which proposes to bring on a mouse what the Shift key does on a keyboard. It therefore allows you to assign a new function to each button pressed as long as the Hypershift button is held.

Concretely, this means that on paper each key can be assigned twice, thus increasing the number of possible inputs to 24. “On paper” because in real use, we already know that the profile change button located under the mouse will not be used much like the two slice buttons which adjoin the Hypershift palette.

The paddle must be maintained by our thumb, indeed difficult to reach the other two buttons without releasing it. Note, however, that the Hypershift function can be assigned to any other mouse button.

    What satisfaction to use?

A realistic count would therefore report at least fifteen easily usable inputs which already allows a fairly crazy number of customizations. Capable of satisfying both FPS enthusiasts to whom the original Basilisk was intended, but also of meeting the needs.

Fans of other styles of games, MOBA and STR in mind, without using a specific mouse covered with buttons of all kinds. And here, the management of profiles which may at times seem dispensable takes on its full meaning.

There are indeed many customization possibilities and only the limit of the five profiles that can be saved in the memory integrated into the mouse must be taken into account. Note that the profiles are not limited in Synapse. You can therefore completely create 32 for your 32 favorite games, then alternate them in memory in the mouse according to your playing habits.

    Button Customization

As with any Razer product, button customization is handled from within Synapse, alongside sensitivity and RGB lighting settings. In this regard, note that the RGB areas of the mouse do not change compared to 2018. Only the logo and the wheel are affected.

A bit of a shame, the slash that cuts the mouse in half or the slice buttons could also have benefited from a shimmering lighting that flatters the retinas of players of good taste.

As for the grip, no change with the 2018 model, the asymmetrical design of the Basilisk V2 reserves it to the right hand only. The relatively small mouse is always oriented more towards a “claw grip”, with the fingertips.

However, nothing prevents the user from resting the palm on it, even if the big patouns will quickly feel cramped. Also note that in this case the little finger will be directly in contact with the desktop, nothing is done so that it can rest on the mouse.

    Conclusion

The Basilisk V2 is therefore a nice update which, if it simply refines the formula already proven in 2018 for the external part.  Offers a lot of appreciable new features internally, starting with the Hypershift which increases the possibilities offered by the mouse tenfold.

This is an excellent mouse which, unlike the previous version, aims further than FPS enthusiasts and now targets MOBA and other RTS enthusiasts. A little more fantasy would have been appreciated, but we can bet that additional RGB areas will brighten up the V3, which is sure to raise an already very high level.

    Good points (+)

    • Materials, finish
    • Number of buttons
    • Hypershift function which increases the possibilities of customization tenfold
    • Wheel with cross clicks (finally!)
    • Grips less prone to clogging
    • Very comprehensive setting via Synapse

    Negative points (-)

    • Only one pallet size included
    • RGB zones identical to the 2018 version
    • Mouse a little small
    • Clearly higher price compared to the V1

With the Basilisk V2, Razer offers an excellent wired mouse that is very well finished and pleasant to use. The arrival of the Hypershift and the customization possibilities it offers covers a wide range of uses and will suit FPS fans as well as fans of MOBA or strategy games.

  • Razer Mamba Elite Mouse Test And Review

    Razer Mamba Elite Mouse

    Razer Mamba Elite for comfortable?

Introduced in 2009 and renewed in 2015, the Mamba is now one of Razer’s flagship mice. This time, it is available in an Elite version with a new “5G” optical sensor. Comfort oriented, the Mamba does not change shape in its Elite version.

We therefore always benefit from a medium-sized mouse (125 x 69.9 x 43.3 mm), rather rounded and which accommodates the hand well.

    Ergonomics

We gladly put the whole palm on it, although the larger hands are invited to grab it in claw, fingers a little curved, for more nervousness in fast games in particular.

Its reasonable mass (100 g on the scale, 96 g without cable according to Razer) makes it also quite handy, a little less clumsy than a Naga Trinity, for example, although it cannot claim to equal the most agile mice. dedicated to FPS or Moba, often thinner and lighter (at Razer always, the Basilisk or even the DeathAdder ).

    Nice Experiance With Mamba Elite

Regardless, the Mamba Elite is appreciated above all for its versatility and is suitable for a wide variety of uses, in video games as in office automation. The grip is very good thanks to the curved edges and equipped with elastomer inserts.

When it comes to sliding too, the Mamba Elite behaves very well with its two large PTFE pads – a much smaller third pad surrounds the sensor and provides additional stability in addition to limiting the risk of dust getting lodged under the optics of the sensor.

    Quality of Product

In terms of finish, we appreciate the good quality of the matt plastics used and the impeccable adjustments that this Mamba Elite benefits from. The mouse remains sober, only the backlit areas bring a little fantasy and color.

Razer also highlights the Chroma effects of this RGB backlight distributed over 20 zones. Whether it’s just enjoying color variations or activating light alerts, it brings a touch of originality to the mouse with neat lighting and smooth transitions.

    Operation For Mamba Elite

As for the buttons, we appreciate the good reactivity of the main switches signed Omron. Guaranteed for 50 million activations, these have the good taste of not being noisy and remain relatively flexible. The slightly concave buttons also help to keep the fingers well in the center.

Well positioned, they are easily activated and are also reactive. Two other buttons take place above the dial to adjust the sensitivity of the sensor on the fly. Less well placed, these impose a certain digital gymnastics.

    Flexibility for use

Operating them in the heat of the moment is not advisable and we can hardly count on them for other functions, despite the possibility of assigning them other commands via the Synapse software.

The dial, for its part, is a treat to use. Sufficiently flexible to perform fairly fast scrolls, it remains well notched. It is associated with three switches: the classic one that activates when you press it. But also two lateral ones that activate when you tilt it to the right or to the left these are used for side scrolling in office automation, but can also be associated with any other function.

    Design And Precision

Like the other “Elite” mice, the Mamba Elite is equipped with the “5G” optical sensor manufactured by PixArt. A sensor first introduced with the DeathAdder Elite, but which is also found in the Lancehead Tournament Edition, the Basilisk and the Naga Trinity.

Very efficient, it supports speeds of up to 11.43 m / s and accelerations of up to 50 g. We have never been able to find fault with it. Even the fastest players can’t win it. We can thus perfectly use the Mamba Elite in low sensitivity and subject it to lively and wide movements at the same time, the viewfinder follows the slightest movement without problem.

    Razer Mamba Elite Sensor

Razer’s “5G” optical sensor, at the heart of the mouse. A use in high sensitivity is conversely quite possible, the sensor being able to climb up to 16,000 dpi. Remember, however, that at this extreme level, a movement of 2 cm is enough to make the pointer travel the width of 3 Ultra HD screens.

It is therefore perfectly unnecessary with current screen definitions, but as with speed and acceleration, who can do more can do less. However, manufacturers should rely on other commercial arguments to praise the qualities of their mice.

When it comes to surface recognition, the Mamba Elite accommodates a wide variety of materials and our satin test desk does not pose any problem. Optical technology requires, however, glass and other transparent and reflective materials are to be banned. We always recommend a good mouse pad anyway, especially for gaming, in order to enjoy optimal glide and precision, and also to reduce wear on the pads at the same time.

    Easy Setting Of Devices

Common to all Razer devices, Synapse provides access to several settings. First of all, you can change the function of the nine mouse buttons and assign them previously recorded macros. A second tab gives access to the sensor parameters, in particular to choose the sensitivity levels (up to 5).

The third tab is dedicated to backlight effects. You can choose one of the five pre-recorded, or create your own effect in Chroma Studio. The last tab is used to calibrate the sensor for the area of use of the mouse.

The settings can be saved in several profiles that can be associated with software so that they are loaded automatically when the software is launched. The mouse can accommodate up to 4 personalized profiles in its internal memory. the profile change can then be done without resorting to software, simply by pressing the dedicated button located under the mouse.

    Razer Software Support

Razer Mamba Elite download > Razer Mamba Download Software

    STRONG POINTS

    • Comfortable handling.
    • Good build quality.
    • Excellent optical sensor.
    • Soft and well notched at the same time, with side clicks.
    • Neat backlighting.
    • 4 personalized profiles in internal memory.

    WEAK POINTS

    • Hardly accessible sensitivity change buttons.

    CONCLUSION

Without forcing, the Mamba Elite remains the precise and comfortable mouse we’ve known since its first version. This new Elite version changes almost nothing in shape. But benefits from an optical sensor at the tip and responsive buttons. A mouse that is always so recommendable if you are looking for versatility.
