    Hyperx Cloud Revolver S Review

Hyperx Cloud Revolver S Review – This new gaming headset marks a turning point at HyperX: new name, new look, new materials, new microphone. Above all, the manufacturer wants to seduce FPS enthusiasts by offering a model that would be studied for the practice of the genre thanks to excellent sound spatialization . Let’s see if all these changes risk turning the Revolver against its builder.

    Ergonomics

Even if its atypical look may surprise you, the HyperX Revolver is an over-ear headset that benefits from good manufacturing quality, serious assembly, a large metal headband and plastic shells to protect the ear cups. The only details that bother us concern the apparent wiring between the top of the ear cups and the base of the lower hoop as well as the non-removable cable.

Apart from that, the helmet is both strong, light and relatively flexible, which bodes well for good durability if you take a minimum of care of your belongings. If you are often on the move, know that HyperX has chosen to get rid of the many accessories that were one of the strengths of the Cloud . So there is no storage case to protect the headphones or even an extension cable or additional pads.

    Comfort

This Revolver uses a double headband that is increasingly found in the world of audio gaming . This choice is quite clearly inspired by what can be found at Steelseries with the Siberia 650, for example. The problem with this upper metal hoop is that it tends to resonate when wearing the helmet on the head and touching this part. Fortunately, the phenomenon is much better controlled here.

HyperX has kept the headband of the Cloud, but the foam here is a little more flexible and airy. The two earpieces are connected to the headband by a ball-and-socket pivot system that allows slight vertical or horizontal movement. The removable leatherette pads are similar to those of the Cloud: they are particularly thick and soft to the touch.

This combination adds a new dimension to the comfort provided. The Revolver sits naturally on the head and adapts quite well to different body types, especially larger heads. The weight is well distributed and the pressure points are homogeneous all around the ears. The pads do not provide an extreme feeling of heat.

    Good Controler

However, we find that the pressure exerted on the top of the head is just a little too much for large heads in the first few hours, which can be annoying if you decide to do long sessions from the start. The shaping and softening of the pad are done little by little, but you always feel a little the arch in the end. A slightly more flexible and less thick lower arch could have changed the situation. The acoustic design is a bit more open, so the passive isolation is far from extreme. It still allows you to cut yourself off from the environment to be comfortable in the game.

The Revolver connects to console controllers and mobile devices via a particularly thick braided cable that measures about one meter. It ends with a 3.5 mm 4-pin mini-jack connector. A 2m extension cable, which terminates in a double 3.5mm 3-point mini-jack is also supplied. It embeds a command that allows you to control the listening volume via a continuous potentiometer and which allows you to mute the microphone via a switch. Like many other headsets, the Revolver does not have a dedicated computer application.

    Audio

The sound performance of this headset is generally good. The rendering is certainly musical and the W signature is marked, but in the end it remains relatively controlled and precise.

The low end is delivered with great depth, but it’s not extremely warm. This remains controlled, however, because the membranes never really get carried away and there is only a small masking effect on the low mids. The voices are particularly well put forward. They are clear and intelligible, but female vocals lack a bit of warmth and therefore sound more pinched than male vocals.

This W signature is still a little marked in the high-mids/treble. The sibilance wakes up from time to time depending on the songs, just like the “fff” of the voices. The guitars, especially the electric guitars with distortion, are a bit sharper and more aggressive than usual. Our favorite pieces in this kind of case, signed The Dillinger Escape Plan and Oh, Sleeper, however, remain soft enough to be listened to without being too aggressive.

The Revolver offers a nice reproduction of stereophony even if, again, we expected even more width. However, the sound stage remains particularly readable and each element that composes it is easily identifiable. This is less the case in depth, especially on the evaluation of the distance in play. It is a little better than what the Cloud is capable of, but not as good as some other references.

    Microphone

This model also innovates in terms of microphone. This one still remains removable and gooseneck, but it is now without windshield and protected by rubber. It is easy to handle and easily positioned in front of the mouth. It captures the voice very well and cuts out enough outside noise to be heard clearly. However, a small gain boost will not be too much to achieve a good level of capture.

    Conclusion

Hyper took a risky bet by changing a large part of the codes that made the Cloud so successful . The new design of the Revolver is more comfortable and more adapted to different morphologies, but the many accessories have disappeared. The sound reproduction is really different, but it remains overall controlled and precise. In the end, and contrary to what HyperX announces, this model has nothing really special for FPS games. It will satisfy those looking for an effective closed helmet that does not isolate extremely, but which offers a greater feeling of ventilation.

  • Asus ROG Strix Scar 17 : Review The gaming laptop

    Asus ROG Strix Scar 17

The Asus ROG Strix Scar 17 is the spearhead of the Republic of Gamers range. This version is equipped with an Intel Core i9-12900H processor with Alder Lake architecture. While the GPU is entrusted to Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 3070 Ti.

Presentation The Asus ROG Strix Scar 17

The Asus ROG Strix Scar 17 is a portable PC model designed primarily/ notebook gaming for gamers looking for the best in technology without compromising on performance. A showcase for the Taiwanese manufacturer. This model also gives it the opportunity to prove its know-how with some exclusive features. Such as the ROG Keystone, an NFC key that is inserted on the right of the keyboard and allows you to personalize the PC, or even to access a hidden partition.

Construction The Asus ROG Strix Scar 17

The ROG Strix Scar 17 is far from being a model of sobriety. From the hood, its membership in the Republic Of Gamers is well highlighted. In plastic, it sports the famous backlit ROG eye. The most attentive will also have noticed the selective varnish strip adorned with the ROG logo, which crosses the hood diagonally.

Opening the screen reveals a two-tone piano with an opaque black side and another transparent. Apart from the “wow” effect of the discovery, its usefulness is nil: no real component is visible, not even a rotating fan. The coating of the piano suffers from the absence of anti-fingerprint treatment, the slightest pressure on it leaving marks that are difficult to clean. Cleaning is also complicated and often leaves traces.

    Keyboard

The RGB backlit keyboard provides a pleasant typing with a good response. It has a full numeric keypad and five macro keys on its top. It is obviously possible to customize the backlight with the Armory Crate software – the possibilities offered are such that you could spend the afternoon there.

Like the keyboard, the large touchpad offers a smooth glide and the various Windows gestures are well taken into account. On the far right on the right edge, a location is provided for the ROG Keystone (in red with the ROG logo). This is a key equipped with an NFC chip that allows you to link an ROG account in order to find its personalization profiles (ventilation, backlighting, etc.).  and to set up a storage space only visible when the key is present.

    Connectivity

The connectivity of the Asus ROG Strix Scar 17 goes to the essentials with two USB 3.2 ports and a jack on the left side. Behind the screen, between the two vents, are two USB-C ports, an HDMI port and an RJ45 socket to the 2.5G standard.

Access to these ports is also quite painful, because there is no indication on the chassis to indicate their presence. We also regret the absence of a memory card reader, a webcam and, to a lesser extent, a fingerprint reader to unlock the session. However, there is plenty of space on this 17-inch chassis.

The wireless connection is ensured, not by an Intel chip as we could have believed, but a MediaTek version. The MT7922, also used at AMD under the name RZ616, manages wifi 6E at 2400 Mb/s and Bluetooth 5.2.

    Cooling

In terms of cooling, Asus has provided the ROG Strix Scar 17 with two fans, four radiators, four heat pipes and liquid metal type thermal paste to maximize heat exchange.

Thermal imaging does not reveal anything alarming for a laptop dedicated to gaming. On the keyboard, the temperatures recorded are even rather low with just under 41 ° C at the hottest point. The ZQSD keys oscillate around 35°C, while the rest of the keyboard stays perfectly cool.

The dedicated CPU vents are the hottest after our gaming session with almost 58°C behind the screen and 55.8°C on the left side. The vents on the right for the GPU are 10°C cooler.

Noise pollution amounts to 50.5 dB in Turbo mode. Suffice to say that the neighbors will be quite annoyed after about fifteen minutes of play. Using Performance mode in Armory Crate reduces the perceived sound level by two (47.1 dB), while Silent mode does not exceed 37 .1dB.

The level of performance will be impacted by the cooling mode. Thus, we obtain 82 fps under Assassin’s Creed Valhalla in Turbo mode, the Performance mode allowing 74 fps, while the Silent mode will “only” offer 60 fps.

Performance The Asus ROG Strix Scar 17

To animate its ROG Strix Scar 17, Asus has teamed up with Intel and therefore integrates a Core i9-12900H with Alder Lake hybrid architecture, 32 GB of DDR5 RAM and an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 Ti graphics card. Let’s go back to the processor.

Which therefore has six high-performance cores (P-Cores), hyperthreaded and clocked at 2.5 GHz with a boost of 5 GHz, and eight low-power cores (E-Cores) at 1.8 GHz with a boost of 3.8GHz. During an encoding, we noted an average frequency of 3.61 GHz for the P-Cores and 2.79 GHz. For the E-Cores with respective maximum frequencies of 4.92 GHz and 3.79 GHz.

The performance index of the Core i9-12900H is 176, far ahead of the Ryzen 9 5900HX. Core i9-11980HK which have an index close to 140 depending on the laptop in which they are integrated. Note, however, that the score of the Core i9-12900H could have been higher if the cooling system managed to keep the temperature of the Core i9 cores below 100°C. Beyond this temperature, the processor reduces its frequency and therefore performance. We were thus able to observe drops in framerate in game when the processor sporadically drops to 399 MHz.

Games The Asus ROG Strix Scar 17

ROG Strix Scar 17 features the latest GPU announced by Nvidia , the GeForce RTX 3070 Ti. The version selected by Asus claims a maximum TGP of 150 W; it is therefore the most efficient version of this GPU.

Thus equipped, the ROG Strix Scar 17 obtains a performance index of 195. Slightly lower than the Lenovo Legion 5 Pro equipped with a GeForce RTX 3070 (140 W). The explanation is to be found on the side of the processor, which lowers its frequency. A phenomenon particularly visible in Call Of Duty and Cyberpunk 2077. Dragging with it the frequency of the GPU, even in the most performance (and therefore ventilation) mode. high offered by the Asus Armory Crate software (Turbo mode).

    Full HD Definition Screen

With a Full HD definition and all the settings pushed to the maximum, our range of games runs at around 90 fps without raytracing. Activating the latter drastically drops the number of frames per second, so you have to activate DLSS to go above the 60 fps mark in compatible games.

In 2560 x 1440 px – the native definition of our ROG Strix Scar 17 panel. With rasterized rendering, the number of images per second displayed is around 60 fps, a good point. Only Cyberpunk 2077 gets an average framerate of 39 fps. Enabling raytracing makes Cyberpunk 2077, Metro EE, and The Medium barely playable. Therefore, the activation of DLSS will be necessary to enjoy these games.

Screen The Asus ROG Strix Scar 17

The ROG Scar 17 is equipped with an IPS panel displaying 2560 x 1440 px and able to reach a refresh rate of 240 Hz. Asus also offers a Full HD version which reaches 360 Hz . If you play competitive games online, we recommend this 360 Hz version. As for fans of the latest AAA games, the version we tested seems more appropriate.

The WQHD panel selected by Asus obtains a delta E of 1.8, well below 3 where the colorimetric drifts begin to be visible. The color temperature also comes close to the theoretical ideal of 6500 K (6574 K measured). The contrast is on the other hand a little weak with 1104:1 readings with the probe. Nothing alarming, but the blacks will draw a little on the grays.

The brightness is 304 cd / m², a sufficient value for indoor use, knowing that the panel has a good anti-reflective treatment (reflectance measured at 17.8%). Finally, an essential point for a laptop dedicated to gaming, the responsiveness of the panel was measured at 9 ms. Which places the ROG Scar 17 among the most valiant in our database.

Audio The Asus ROG Strix Scar 17

Asus has given its ROG Scar 17 four speakers: two under the screen and facing the user. These act as tweeters  and two others placed under the chassis at the front. Which act as woofers. Listening, the sound volume is more than enough to enjoy its films and series, the stereo being well marked.

The headphone output provides an output level strong enough to handle high impedance headphones. The distortion and crosstalk measurement does not reveal any anomalies. However, we regret a somewhat weak dynamic which could annoy sound professionals.

Mobility / Autonomy The Asus ROG Strix Scar 17

The measurements of the Strix Scar 17 are 39 x 28 cm for 2.83 cm at its thickest point. We are far from the gaming laptops that we knew a few years ago with thicknesses exceeding 4 cm. Its weight of 2.9 kg also places it in the average of 17.3-inch gaming laptops . It is therefore quite possible to transport the ROG Strix Scar 17 in a suitable backpack.

Asus has equipped the Scar 17 with a 90 Wh battery. A substantial capacity, but which does not make it possible to last the day. In video playback with the screen set to 200 cd / m², the Scar 17 allowed us to watch our favorite series for 6 h 40 min (Netflix under Chrome).

Conclusion The Asus ROG Strix Scar 17

The Asus ROG Strix Scar 17 offers a high-flying configuration with its 12th Gen Intel Core i9 processor and GeForce RTX 3070 Ti. Its properly calibrated and responsive screen allows you to fully enjoy video games, with or without raytracing activated. However, the quality of the plastics is not up to the performance. Nor is the cooling system which, unfortunately, struggles to cool the assembly, limiting the capabilities of the assembly.

  • Test The Roccat Tyon, a mouse ready to take off

    Test The Roccat Tyon

    Presentation

The Roccat Tyon. When it comes to mice, it’s hard to reinvent the wheel. This does not prevent manufacturers from trying welcome developments, especially in the field of mice for gamers. Roccat is trying a new experience with the Tyon, with a palette of customizable buttons and an analog stick to manage movements in height in addition to the traditional laser sensor. A mouse for flight simulation enthusiasts?

Design and Ergonomic  The Roccat Tyon

Result of Test The Roccat Tyon From the first grip, a familiar feeling sets in. And for good reason, the Tyon resumes the general shape and approaches the dimensions of the Kone XTD . The arrangement of its many buttons allows to consider a good modularity in the games. The backlighting is limited to the wheel and a border around the base of the mouse

The thumbhole is nice, but is intended exclusively for right-handed people. The sides are made of granular plastic, to ensure a firm grip, while the palm rest and the two main buttons benefit from a softer coating. Nothing to say, it’s classic.

    Test The Roccat Tyon

13.5 cm long and 7.8 cm wide, that’s what it takes for a good grip and long playing sessions. The glide is ensured by two large Teflon pads at the front and on the back of the mouse. It is impeccable on fabrics, silicone or hard carpets. On the weight side, we are at 130 grams, a well weighted mouse but not too heavy either.

    Buttons for Roccat Kone Pure

It is on the side of the buttons that the Tyon stands out. In addition to the two main buttons of the click wheel, there are also two buttons on each side of the main ones, a right and left button under the wheel, an EasyShift + button at the base of the mouse on the left and finally the analog stick above the two buttons under the thumb.

As usual, the Omron mechanical switches on the buttons are responsive. Remember that the EasyShift + function allows you to assign two commands to each button and to switch between them via the dedicated button.

    Input Device The Roccat Tyon

The analog stick (the X-Celerator) is recognized as a joystick via Direct Input (the API that manages input devices). It can therefore be used by all games that recognize controllers. For use on Battlefield 4 , for example, we have abandoned the joystick, until then only reserved for the helicopter, to keep only the mouse. Be careful, we still have a few small complaints: the EasyShift + button, badly placed under the thumb, is sometimes activated inadvertently. The right / left button above the mouse turns out to be quite difficult to reach with your fingertips, but you end up getting used to activating it with a knuckle, even if it is not very natural at first.

    Precision The Roccat Tyon

Unsurprisingly, there is communication up to 1000 Hz with the PC for formidable precision. It is also possible to decrease the frequency to 500 or 125 Hz for use on older PCs.

Our test protocol measures the number of meters / second that a mouse can absorb, but does not give the maximum value just what can be done with a human arm.

With its 8200 dpi laser sensor, it is impossible to fault the Tyon with the strength of our little arms. The mouse collected up to 7.4 m / s with our test software. It is therefore prepared for any brutal movement in play; no worries on that side.

    Conclusion The Roccat Tyon

After Test The Roccat Tyon, Relatively specialized for flight simulators, the Roccat Tyon can however perfectly adapt to any type of game. With a more than reasonable amount of programmable buttons and its analog stick, the latest from Roccat also offers a comfortable grip. It is in any case the most versatile gaming mouse on the market.

  • AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT Test, software, manual guide

AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT test: a graphics card that ticks on raytracing

The Radeon RX 6600 XT is positioned by AMD as an ideal graphics card for gaming in good conditions on a Full HD monitor. A model which therefore aims to overshadow its direct rival, the GeForce RTX 3060.

The Radeon RX 6600 XT is the fifth generation Navi / RDNA2 graphics card from AMD. Displayed at a starting public price of € 380, it is positioned as an entry-level, even mid-range solution. The manufacturer is targeting here players wishing to equip themselves with a graphics card capable of correctly supplying a Full HD monitor.

    The technical point

As for the entire Radeon RX 6000 family, we find under the heatsink of the Radeon RX 6600 XT a GPU using the RDNA2 graphics architecture. We will not go into detail on this architecture that we discussed in our full test of the Radeon RX 6800 XT.

See Also : Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 Ti Driver  Update

If the architecture is identical to the rest of the series, the chip is for its part unique. It is a Navi 23 GPU with 32 execution blocks (CU) for 2,048 compute units. For the other units, there are 128 units dedicated to textures, 64 rendering units or even 32 units dedicated to accelerating effects rendered in raytracing.

    Chace System

The Infinity Cache system is renewed, but it is limited to 32 MB, thus making it possible to reduce the size of the chip (237 mm²) – and therefore its cost. The 11.1 billion transistors are etched in 7 nm by TSMC, like the entire series.

The operating frequency of the GPU is, as with all Radeon RX 6000s, quite high. AMD announces a base frequency of 1968 MHz, for an average frequency in games at 2589 MHz.

    Memory

For memory, the 128-bit bus and aggressive pricing positioning desired by AMD left no other choice than an orientation towards 8 GB of GDDR6 at 2000 MHz. As a result, memory bandwidth is limited to 256 GB / s.

In return, the energy envelope is rather contained, with 160 watts announced by AMD, compared to the 230 watts of the Radeon RX 6700 XT or to the 170 watts of the GeForce RTX 3060, its direct competitor in the Nvidia catalog.

    Construction

Unlike the Radeon RX 6700 XT and higher models, the Radeon RX 6600 XT is not offered as a reference model. In other words, only the so-called ” custom ” models will be marketed by the GPU manufacturer’s partners. For our tests, AMD provided us with an MSI Radeon RX 6600 XT Gaming X. This model is slightly overclocked at the GPU level (+18 MHz).

    Consumption

The power envelope of the MSI graphics card we tested was pushed to 180 watts, compared to 160 watts recommended by AMD. One way to achieve higher operating frequencies.

In practice, we have actually measured this power consumption, with peaks of 190 watts. This nonetheless remains good energy efficiency, which is common to the entire Radeon RX 6000 range.

    Performance in games

The MSI Radeon RX 6600 XT Gaming X that we used in our test posted an average effective frequency of 2640MHz in most games at 1440p rendering.

With this GPU, AMD clearly has its sights set on Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 3060. The latter is outstripped in classic rendering games. This is valid for both Full HD and 1440p.

    RDNA2 Architecture

However, the RDNA2 architecture has shortcomings in games that exploit raytracing effects. This is true once again here, where the Radeon is clearly positioned behind its signed rival Nvidia.

We hoped that the FSR would give this model a performance boost, but it is clear that we will have to wait several more months before this upscaling technology is implemented in a significant number of games.

Nvidia still keeps a lead here with DLSS, more adopted by developers at the time of this writing.

    Higher Definition

The Radeon RX 6600 XT does its job in that it offers enough resources to play properly in Full HD. The higher definition (1440p) is also possible, although it will probably be necessary to go down some levels of graphic detail to maintain fluidity in the busiest scenes of the latest games.

Faster than the GeForce RTX 3060 in classic games, it also comes at a high price, or € 379 recommended starting price.

    More Complicated

But now, the graphics card scene is now much more complicated than that. First of all, there is raytracing, which largely reshuffles the cards. On this, AMD is no match for Nvidia, which systematically keeps a step ahead at this level.

By activating this type of effects, the performance of the Radeon RX 6600 XT collapses in such a way that it rarely becomes possible to maintain a satisfactory fluidity.

    Problem

This problem is all the more important as raytracing compatible games are becoming commonplace, just as DLSS support tends to be generalized on most large video game productions.

Conversely, the AMD FSR upscaling technique is currently quite confidential. Worse still, it is only of interest in higher definitions (ideally in 4K), the graphics rendering in Full HD being particularly degraded, whatever the level of quality selected.

A sum that seems too high for a model that does not allow us to take advantage of the refinements of raytracing .

Software Driver and Manual > Download

    Conclusion

The Radeon RX 6600 XT is a very good graphics card for gamers who want to play on a Full HD monitor and have no desire to enable raytracing in compatible games.

For them, this model offers performance at a very good level and the controlled power consumption leaves the possibility for manufacturers to offer models with discrete cooling. For others, it is better to turn to a GeForce RTX 3060 or a GeForce RTX 3060 Ti.

    Audio Performace Nubwo N7

We are not going to lie to each other, we should not expect to find the performance of a Razer Nari Ultimate which obviously costs much more. It’s still entry-level material for beginner players. That said, the sound rendering is quite satisfactory.

The Nubwo N7 is a rather bassy helmet, with a good depth, which allows a good immersion in the heart of the battles. Explosions and engine noises are well reproduced. We can notice a slight distortion at certain times, when there are a lot of sounds at the same time, but it is still quite rare.

The voices are present, you will have no problem listening to the instructions of the NPCs or hearing your real teammates. Overall there is good resolution across the entire audio spectrum, from bass to treble.

    Power Sound Nubwo N7

The ambient sounds are quite precise, we can hear the whistling balls and the footsteps of our opponents are perfectly audible.

It still lacks a bit of spatialization. You will surely have a hard time knowing if the player is coming in front or behind you. On the other hand, the stereo works well and we detect the danger when it comes from the right or the left.

The power is good, we will be able to turn up the sound to isolate ourselves perfectly from the noise of the house. When you turn up the volume to the maximum, there is a slight distortion, especially in the treble which becomes a little more aggressive, less pleasant, but it remains audible.

    Conclusion Nubwo N7

I did not know the Nubwo brand. Looking around, I saw that it was a manufacturer that offered a lot of products very “inspired” by peripherals from the giants of computing or gaming. These are therefore more or less copied products, but much cheaper.

However, these are not bad copies. There is real inspiration for the design, but with solid materials. I was quite surprised to see such a low price for this gaming headset, which has nothing to envy to some major brand models, which costs twice as much. The build quality is really serious and the comfort is very satisfactory

On the performance side, it’s not amazing, but it’s not disappointing either. The sound is quite precise, distortions are rare, even at full power. We hear footsteps without any problem and we communicate effectively with our teammates. This inexpensive gaming headset is a nice surprise!

  • Audio Technica ATH-M50xBT2 Review Headphones

    Audio Technica ATH-M50xBT2

Review Audio Technica is riding on the success of its iconic ATH-M50 headphones. And giving it a third lease of life with the ATH-M50xBT2 to conquer nomadic music lovers. This 2nd Bluetooth version is of course accompanied by many new features.

    Audio Technica ATH-M50xBT2 Date Release

Freshly launched for the start of the 2021 school year. The ATH-M50xBT2 carries with it the heritage of the M50 line and is positioned as the standard bearer of the Japanese brand’s audio know-how with the general public on the Bluetooth mobile headset market.  It is therefore not surprising that Audio Technica highlights the history of this range to stand out.

Audio Technica ATH-M50xBT2 Focusing on improvement

This “v2” does not bring any real changes on the acoustic level. All the new features focusing on improving the experience of using the headset. Multipoint connection, USB-C port, better call quality, autonomy even more generous. Compatibility with the LDAC codec, smartphone application to extend the possibilities of personalization. And all this without seeing the marketing price increase.

All the ingredients therefore seem to come together to make this ATH-M50xBT2 a very good mobile headset. And that’s what we’re going to try to check during this test.

    Manufacturing & accessories

The ATH-M50xBT2 is strictly identical to its predecessors in terms of design. Capitalizing again and again on its “studio/monitoring” heritage, these headphones are therefore functional, at the risk of not being the most elegant and discreet there is.

There’s not much that can be criticized for its overall sturdiness and maneuverability. The headband resists twisting without flinching and the hinges allow both an ultra generous pivot of the ear cups as well on the horizontal axis than vertical. While allowing the latter to fold up towards the arch.

No rigid case, but a soft carrying pouch is provided to accommodate the headset. And its two detachable cables (a small USB-C to USB-A cable and a mini-jack cable of about 1.2 m).

    Comfort & support

Without fundamental design changes, the ATH-M50xBT2 provides the same comfort experience as its predecessor.

    Weight the helmet

the weight of the helmet (310 g) is very well balanced, as are the pressure points and pinch effects which remain discreet. The generous deployment of the notched headband of the helmet allows it to find its place on the head, large or small, without any problem.

The ear cups do not leave a monster room to accommodate his ears, but it remains sufficient in terms of width and height. The good thickness of the pads allows a pleasant contact, failing to let the ears breathe.

    User experience

As we mentioned in the presentation of this test, the second version of this ATH-M50xBT is largely justified by numerous ergonomic changes which make the headphones very pleasant to use on a daily basis.

Getting started is childish. Many alerts are integrated to guide the user. Unless you are absolutely Anglophobic the voice aids being only offered in English. Beginners will have no trouble finding their way around. The headset houses a line of 4 mechanical buttons that provide access to all the essential controls, and even a little more.

The circular button is in fact dedicated to waking up the voice assistant of the smartphone. And can even serve as a shortcut to interact with Amazon Alexa.  Since the headset displays advanced compatibility with this assistant. As was the case on the previous model, we can still point out the few difficulties in sometimes differentiating certain buttons from each other.

For those who want to go further, Audio Technica has some nice surprises in store thanks to its Audio Technica Connect app (iOS/Android). It gives us the pleasure of offering a whole range of relevant advanced features. And settings while maintaining a simple and intuitive interface. There are the classic indications of battery level, volume, some user guides, the possibility of locating your headphones more easily or of selecting the Bluetooth codec (SBC, AAC or LDAC when the playback device allows it) .

    Autonomy

As if the promise of 50 hours of autonomy were not already impressive. The ATH-M50xBT2 was even more generous during our test. The headphones indeed delivered us on multiple occasions more than 55 hours of use, passing moreover by the most energy-consuming Bluetooth codec (LDAC). It goes without saying that this is an excellent score, capable of satisfying the most intensive uses.

    Handsfree

The quality of voice capture was not the strong point of the first ATH-M50xBT. Audio Technica has therefore endeavored to improve this point on this second version.

    Latency

Improving communication latency in Bluetooth was also one of the works carried out by the manufacturer for this ATH-M50xBT. Basically, the headphones are not the brightest, even if joint use with a video playback application allows you to take advantage of sufficient automatic compensation not to feel any lag disabling.

For all other use cases that could not benefit from this compensation. The headset has a “Low Latency” mode which drastically reduces the delay induced by the Bluetooth connection to less than 90 ms. The perceived sound/image shift is then much more acceptable, for playing video games on smartphones or Switches, for example.

  • Razer Iskur Gaming Chair Review – Back Support

    Razer Iskur review

Razer Iskur review: a well-finished gaming chair

With the extremely solid Razer Iskur, the hardware maker is making a solid debut in high-end gaming chairs

Razer, along with brands such as SteelSeries, Logitech, and Corsair, is a renowned manufacturer of hardware for gamers. The range has grown considerably over the years and goes well beyond mice, keyboards and headsets. The Singaporean-American company is now even adding its first gaming chair to its arsenal of gaming accessories and is ripping itself into the top segment on gaming chair legs from Secretlab and Noblechairs, among others.

The Razer Iskur Office Chair is the first of its kind from Razer. Launched at the end of 2020, it takes the design of a bucket seat, widely used in the world of gaming . The Iskur was marketed at a price of 499 €, which puts it in front of a competitor like the Secretlab Titan.

    Design

Staying comfortably seated for long hours playing or working requires minimal adjustments to your chair. On this point, Iskur offers an initial adjustment that is as obvious as it is essential: the height of the seat. This can be adjusted from 44 to 54 cm, which is an average amplitude. This corresponds to the recommendations of Razer, which promises comfort to users from 1.70 to 1.90 m. However, it should not be too wide.

Indeed, the seat width of the Iskur is only 40 cm. Even for someone on the small side, this somewhat limits the spacing of the legs. The most imposing templates will undoubtedly pass their way.

    Armrests

Good point for armrests which can be adjusted in 4 directions (4D armrests). These elements must be able to adjust to the height of the worktop. Those of Razer offer an amplitude of 9 cm, an interesting value. Iskur also allows you to change the angle of the armrest as well as its distance from the bust. Finally, the last adjustment is the one that is too often missing: that of the depth. Backing up or forwarding the armrest allows you to stand at the right distance from your desk.

    Size

It seems that so-called ” gaming ” chairs have a hard time escaping the bucket seat look. The Razer Iskur is no exception, as is the Secretlab Titan or the Rekt Ultim8.before her. The Iskur file is therefore very high and enveloping. Once again, the returns on each side of the bust will be awkward for the larger body types. The backrest goes up to the shoulders, which is a good thing to ensure good support, even for people up to six feet tall.

However, the presence of a headrest is not necessarily recommended. The latter hinders certain movements and can lead to neck and headaches over time. We advise you not to permanently use the cushion provided to limit the risk of pain.

    Construction

Razer has taken great care in the finishes and build quality of its chair. The Iskur benefits from a serious assembly, in particular at the level of the imitation leather parts which have good stitching, essential to the life of the seat. The plastics used for the armrests and the adjustment levers give full confidence.

    Razer Iskur review-2

The imitation leather covering that covers the seat and the backrest also seems to be of good quality. However, it is more complicated to assess its aging over time. The choice of imitation leather rather than fabric can be debated. The first is less messy and less sensitive to stains, the second more breathable.

The metal leg is in line with the rest of the chair. The five casters are satisfactory and allow the Razer chair to move easily and rather silently.

    Conclusion

The Razer Iskur is definitely an interesting and comfortable chair. Its lumbar adjustment is not the best thought out, but the backrest remains comfortable without it. The Razer gaming chair benefits from very good finishes and is comfortable. However, if you are over 1.85m tall or have a rather wide body, Iskur may be too narrow for you. Better then to turn to the XL versions of the Secretlab Titan.

  • Review HyperX Cloud Alpha Pro Gaming Headset

    Hyperx Cloud Alpa

Review | HyperX Cloud Alpha Pro Gaming Headset

The HyperX Cloud line is a great success. Allowing the HyperX brand to become an icon on the competitive gaming scene for years to come. It all started with HyperX Cloud, then Cloud Cloud, Revolver was launched and the rest is history. They never fail to impress us in our review and here we are again with another model. Introducing the HyperX Cloud Alpha Pro Gaming Headset.

The HyperX Cloud Alpha Pro Gaming Headset is a step up from previous HyperX Cloud models. Under the luxury shell, HyperX finally introduced a dual-chamber design for drivers. Basically this means less distortion and better separation between frequency range

    Technical Spesification

The HyperX Cloud Alpha Pro gaming headset features a pair of 53mm dynamic drivers with 65 ohms impedance. It is a closed-over-the-ear design with a nominal frequency response of 13Hz to 27KHz. Better frequency range than previous models.

    Design

The design elements of the HyperX Cloud Alpha Pro Gaming Headset are a tribute to the original. Something that the HyperX Cloud Revolver failed to capture, or at least tried to shoot down. It’s a sleeker design, with an emphasis on shaving weight. That said, the HyperX Cloud Apha Pro weighs in at 298 grams without the cables. About 22 grams lighter than the original . I just hope that in the near future HyperX will release a Cloud Alpha with more color options and a model without a matte finish.

The headband is still based on a flexible design with a HyperX logo emblazoned on a stitched synthetic leather. The padding of the HyperX Alpha Pro is about half an inch, enough to provide a comfortable fit and evenly distributed weight.

    Construction

The fillings, on the other hand, are based on half-inch-thick memory foam pads. The dual controller cameras are hidden by mesh filters, although they are quite thin. Not that I’m complaining, but those with bigger ears can. Since this is a follow-up to the cloud models, it does not feature a rotating ear cup design .The microphone is a step up from those included with previous HyperX Cloud models. It is also fast and flexible like the rest, perhaps a little more flexible.

HyperX decided to go with a proprietary connection for both 3.5mm ports. These aren’t bad, considering the strength needed to combat cable kink.

    Comfort

The HyperX Cloud Alpha Pro Gaming Headset is a step up from previous HyperX Cloud models. Under the luxury shell, HyperX finally introduced a dual-chamber design for drivers. Basically this means less distortion and better separation between frequency ranges. HyperX opted to use detachable cables with a TRRS 1.3 cable as the main one with the control box. It is compatible with mobile devices and consoles, while the longer dual audio output 2 cable is for the PC. Well thought out packages we have here. Simple, but impressive.

    SOFTWARE:

There is no software included with the HyperX Cloud Alpha Pro gaming headset. In fact, most HyperX gears don’t come with any, which is in line with their brand philosophy geared towards competitiveness and simplicity. If it is not necessary, then you will not see any.

CONFIGURATION OF THE TEST AND METHODOLOGY:

Our test setup is based on a system with a Realtek ALC892 codec, tuned to generate a flat sound signature. On the other hand, the performance of the microphone is also evaluated by the same audio solution sampled in a 34dB environment. The helmet used for cross-reference sampling is a SONY MDR-7506 Studio Headphones – an ideal studio monitor for A / B testing. Note that we keep the sound pressure level around 85dBA for the duration of testing. Our main goals are to detail the games and the overall performance of the helmet.

    AUDIO PERFORMANCE TARGET:

The hatters, while mostly subjectively tested, could still be tested for basic objective measurements. Helping us do just that are headphones and earphones from AudioCheck.net Benchmarking Archives Test .

Based on AudioCheck.net test files, HyperX Cloud Alpha Pro gaming headsets were successfully streamed in most test suites. In particular, the dynamic range at 54 dB below full scale. That’s a great brand for those who play in a noisy environment.

    GENERAL AUDIO PERFORMANCE:

The lower frequency ranges of the HyperX Cloud Alpha present an excellent presentation of subwoofers and low mids, with a good upper limit; Avoiding complications with the lower middle ranges. The quality and quantity of bass definitely improved with the HyperX Cloud Alpha compared to previous models.

With a separate camera, the mid-range performance also saw improvements. Vocal-emphasized tracks are flawless to listen to, which is rare enough for gaming headsets. But again, we are looking at the HyperX Cloud Alpha Pro here. The direct descendant of the legendary lineup.

The highs are not as bright as the previous models, however, we cannot say that the final details are lacking. It felt good, good or home to be precise.

    GAME PERFORMANCE:

Immersive and competitive level performance is what we are looking for when it comes to gaming headsets. With that in mind, we launched our favorite games with the HyperX Cloud Alpha Pro. That includes Battlefield 4, an old game, yet it is not far behind when it comes to audio and positional details

Image is where we examine the spatial location of audio sources. It is important for music and it is also important in games, where positional audio is king. Laterally and in depth, the images are enhanced with the HyperX Cloud Alpha Pro. That is with reference to the older models. I’ve already praised what came before the Alpha Pro, but this is on another level of detail. A must see if you have the older couple.

    MICROPHONE PERFORMANCE:

Microphone performance is another major benefit of HyperX Cloud Alpha Pro. Expect with a specified frequency range of 50Hz to 18KHz. If it is possible for you to have a sexy IRL voice, then it should be heard flawlessly on the receiving end.

Noise cancellation is quite excellent. I should have recorded the above test in a 34dBA environment but we actually did it in a 52dBA environment. That is during rush hour traffic.

    WRAPPING IT UP:

The HyperX Cloud Alpha Pro gaming headset is anything but irrational. It may not have 7.1 surround but it is in all respects a better option than some Dolby Surround headphones at the same price. Microphone quality is another aspect of HyperX Cloud Pro that we liked. It’s definitely an upgrade from the old one with better range and noise-canceling properties.
