    Logitech Ergo M575

Logitech Ergo M575 : a wireless mouse with trackball and up to two years of battery life

The Logitech Ergo M575 mouse doesn’t need to be moved to move the cursor, it all happens under your thumb. It has an optical sensor and therefore a very long battery life of up to two years. It is sold for 50 euros.

Logitech has offered trackball mice for years. It is a large ball allowing you to move the cursor, without having to maneuver the mouse. Convenient for offices with limited space.

“ Your hand and arm stay relaxed because you don’t have to move your arm to move the slider, ” says the manufacturer . Its angled design helps keep “ the fingers in a more natural position ,” he adds. Nothing new here, several mice are already available in the Ergo range.

    Logitech Ergo M575

Optical sensor, five buttons, Bluetooth and Unifying

The M575 has five buttons, three of which are programmable, and a thumbwheel. It uses an optical sensor with a “nominal” resolution of 400 dpi and “maximum” resolution of 2000 dpi. This is an important difference with the M570 trackball which used a laser sensor which allows it to be more energy efficient.

Of course, the trackball ball can be removed for cleaning. The set connects to the computer via Bluetooth or using the Unifying USB receiver included in the bundle. The manufacturer announces ” up to two years of autonomy with a single AA battery ” if you use Unifying technology, against twenty months in Bluetooth.

In practice, this will obviously depend on your use.

Recycled plastic, available for 50 euros
The manufacturer highlights the fact that ” the plastic components of ERGO M575 are made from post-consumer recycled plastic (50% in Graphite shade and 21% in Off-white) “.

The packaging paper is “ made from wood from FSC certified forests ”. Logitech offers its new Ergo M575 mouse for 50 euros , which places it well below other models equipped with a trackball … at least officially. Because if the M570 is 90 euros on the Logitech site, it is found at 44 euros.

  • Logitech G Pro X Superlight Super Sensor

    Logitech G Pro

Logitech G Pro X Superlight with super sensor?

Logitech delivers the most precise sensor in the industry today with over 25,000 DPI. Nevertheless: Even in the test of current e-sports titles such as CS, GO, Fortnite or Dota 2. I am could not find any difference to the 16,000 DPI competing models.

In the latency test, on the other hand, the Logitech G Pro X Superlight measured a delay of 4.2 ms between click and action. For a wireless mouse, this is a good, but not perfect, value.

The mouse is also fun with common games such as Age of Empires III Definitie Edition, Doom Eternal or the puzzle game Disco Eysium – but only after it has been made non-slip (more on this below). It is also well suited for everyday office life, as it does not require any noticeable lighting and there is no oversupply of buttons to get in the way of work.

    Design and Handling

    Material

In the test, the eel-smooth surface of the mouse was initially annoying, which makes it look a little “cheap”. Appearances or even the feeling are deceptive.

Logitech processes extremely resistant hard plastic here. If you like a little more “grip”, you can stick the supplied studded strips on the Logitech G Pro X Superlight.

This works in the test, but requires a bit of tact until all “bubbles” have been eliminated.

    Logitech G Pro

    Comfortable

Compared to the larger competing models, however, it also fits in small hands. Nevertheless, the ergonomics of larger hands suffers.

At first, the very slippery surface was also annoying: the gaming mouse was too easy to move on the mouse pad or other surfaces and slid around.

After replacing the magnetic compartment on the underside, which doubles as a shelter for the wireless receiver, the mouse held a little more firmly. Nevertheless, the liability was not on the level of the other Logitech models

    Buttons

With this model, Logitech relies entirely on a simple look two buttons on the left side, three buttons on the top. Ambitious gamers who would like to assign special commands to a dozen additional buttons will not be happy with the Logitech G Pro X Superlight Wireless.

However, if you don’t need a lot of buttons, you will have real pleasure with the mouse because of its weight.

However, the following applies it is essential to test it beforehand. The low weight is not for everyone. In terms of ergonomics, it cannot be compared with the sister models G604 or the competition due to its simple shape and does not fit perfectly in the hand. With slight restrictions, it is also suitable for left-handers.

    Good battery life

The battery life of the Logitech G Pro X Superlight is also okay, but like the other models in the comparison test, it cannot come close to the 200 hours of the G604 After 77 hours of continuous gaming, the Superlight was over.

The outdated USB standard is a bit strange. Because while manufacturers rely on the USB-C standard for almost all modern accessories or devices.

    Conclusion

Originally intended by and for esports professionals, the Logitech G Pro X Superlight also impresses as an all-rounder in various areas. Its inconspicuous appearance also allows it to pass easily as a companion in everyday office life and, thanks to the 25,000 DPI sensor, it delivers extreme precision even with normal games.

The somewhat cheap-looking material impression was less appealing, even if the hard plastic is quite stable. Still, Logitech has built the lightest and most precise wireless mouse here. The only disadvantage: At 149 € it is much too expensive.

  • Logitech G402 Hyperion Fury Better than G502?

    Logitech G402

    Logitech G402 Hyperion Fury review

Little sister of the G502 Proteus Core, the G402 hyperion Fury is according to Logitech a mouse with a super fast sensor. Less equipped with buttons than its big sister, the G402 is intended mainly for FPS players. With its 4000 dpi sensor, it is positioned against rivals such as the Kone Pure Optical or the Steelserie Rival.

    Design & Handling

    Ergonomics

The Logitech G502 above against the Steelseries Rival below As with the G502, Logitech has confined itself to a right-handed model.

Less wide and thinner than its big sister, the G402 offers a mix of matte and shiny plastic with a slightly rough plastic and a little grip under the thumb. The backlight is unobtrusive with an illuminating G on the palm rest and 3 LEDs to indicate which DPI profile is active.

    Design

    Logitech G402

The mouse turns out to be relatively long (13.6 cm), while its height (4.1 cm) and width (7.2 cm) make it a comfortable model to handle, with pleasant sides to lock the fingers. and ensure a firm grip. Spider posture or fingers glued to the mouse, the choice is yours, both grips are possible.

Seen from above, the mouse looks rather good, with clearly aggressive curves and we understand at first glance that this is a mouse intended for gamers. Curves that contrast sharply with the old versions of Logitech mice, we think in particular of the G400.

With 144 grams on the scale, the mouse is relatively weighted. You can’t influence your weight. The glide is ensured by 4 Teflon pads. Two main at the front and at the back and two smaller ones on each side of the sensor. The mouse glides perfectly, both on fabric and on silicone.

    Material

In terms of materials, the G402 Hyperion Fury is designed for the most part in a solid black matte plastic. Its lines are accentuated by areas of shiny black plastic while the right and left edges have two rubber covers to ensure good support during your fastest trips.

It all seems rather resistant, but we can still regret the absence of a little more noble materials, such as aluminum in the Corsair M65 for example.

    Buttons

With 8 buttons, the mouse offers some possibilities for shortcuts and macros. The use of mechanical switches offers foolproof responsiveness and the clicks are pleasant and well felt.

On the other hand, we regret the absence of a disengageable wheel as on the G502. The latter is also a little hard, probably to avoid going too far in the selection of weapon in play. But it turns out to be blow a little too hard for web browsing.

Finally, we also regret the absence of side buttons for horizontal scrolling on the dial.

    Logitech G402

    Precision

Like any good mouse gamer who respects the G402 Hyperion Fury communicates with the PC to the frequency of 1000 Hz for maximum precision in movement.

Note that if you use it on a modest machine – you never know you should not hesitate to lower the frequency to 500 Hz, or even 125 Hz. Which will be more than sufficient for office automation or strategy games.

    Software Logitech G HUB

    Software G Hub > Installer

    Conclusion

The G402 does not measure up to its bigger sister, the more complete G502. It is still excellent for FPS fans: it offers more buttons than its direct competitors. Its sensor is effective and it is comfortable, an important point for long gaming sessions.

  • Logitech G733 wireless headset Review

    Presentation

In August 2020, Logitech presented a new line of colorful gaming products , including the G733 wireless headset. Aimed at PC gamers “ wishing to have a headset with a well-marked identity ”, this model offers a colorful design, and even customizable thanks to original microphone windshields and multicolored headbands sold separately.

It also highlights its RGB backlighting, for even more style, its lightness, the reliability of its proprietary Lightspeed wireless connection and the particularly immersive sound reproduction.

The G733 was launched on September 7, 2020 at a price of 149 €. It is available in four colors (black, white, blue and lilac), one of which is licensed under League of Legends.

See Also  : Logitech G935 Mouse review

    Manufacturing

The design of the G733 contrasts with that of other helmets by offering a design much more elegant than the G635 and G935, but less sober than the Pro range . The ear cups are relatively large and each feature forward-facing RGB lighting in the form of a vertical line.

As with the majority of gaming headsets on the market, the pads are made of memory foam that can easily be detached. The hoop consists of a sliding hard plastic part, presumably reinforced by metal rods, and an elastic suspension strap adjustable on two levels and detachable.

The entire helmet is covered with plastic, matt in places, shiny in others, which gives it a “toy” aspect that is not very reassuring at first. However, the helmet seems sturdy. We noticed no flaws, no squeaks, and we have no complaints about the finishes. The headband design allows it to withstand the worst twists, and the headband looks well made.

Manual guide Logitech G733 > Download Here

    Comfort

What strikes most when wearing the G733 for the first time is obviously its weight of 278 g, much lower than the average for gaming headsets (around 310 g). This lightness, in particular due to the 100% plastic design, is really very appreciable. The helmet can thus be worn for long hours without being felt.

The helmet is placed very easily on the head. The suspension strap conforms to the shape of the skull and distributes the weight evenly. This strap is reversible, adjustable on two levels and can be purchased separately on the Logitech website.

The memory foam and mesh-covered ear cushions are very comfortable and help isolate surrounding noise slightly – sometimes you need to activate mic feedback to hear yourself speak.

Although the comfort of the G733 will suit the majority of users, some may criticize the lack of depth of the ear cups, which can cause unpleasant contact between the anthelix and the speakers after long use. The low range of adjustment of the arch (1 cm on each side) could also pose problems for larger heads.

    Connectivity

Like the Pro X Wireless , the G733 works exclusively wireless. It has no mini-jack input and its USB-C port is only used for charging. It communicates with a USB-A wireless transmitter / receiver using the proprietary Lightspeed protocol. A protocol that works correctly and that did not cause us to suffer any cuts during our tests.

Logitech promises us a range of 20 m which is verified as long as there is no obstacle between the headset and the USB dongle . Depending on the type of obstacle, the range can easily be halved, as sometimes a wall is enough to cut off communication.

Manual guide Logitech G733 > Download Here

    Controls & Application

The G733 is very easy to use: just plug in the USB dongle and power it on, nothing more. The left ear cup has two mechanical buttons that can be distinguished by touch: one for switching on and a “Selector G”.

Preprogrammed for muting the microphone, but which can be reassigned to any other action via the application.

The dial allows you to control the sound volume synchronously with the device to which the headphones are paired. Its placement and sensitivity require you to be careful when handling the headphones, otherwise the volume may be inadvertently changed.

The physical controls of the G733 are therefore simple. We would still have appreciated a control of the sound balance between the game and the chat or an adjustment of the microphone volume directly on the headset, without having to go back and forth between the game window and the application window from Logitech.

The headset is obviously managed by Logitech G Hub, the device manager of the Swiss brand. This software is very comprehensive and allows you to customize in detail many aspects of the helmet. It includes a 10-band equalizer, many sound settings for the microphone, including the Blue Vo! Ce filter, what to manage RGB lighting and what to activate and configure the virtual surround DTS Headphone: X 2.0.

Note that the application is much less complete on macOS than on Windows and that it is simply not available on consoles, which can be a problem, especially since the headset does not keep the changes in memory.

    Autonomy

The G733 ranks among the best wireless gaming headsets in terms of battery life. Our measurements validated the promise of 29 hours of use at moderate volume with RGB lights turned off. That said, the headphones demonstrate an astonishing management of these since they still reach 23 hours of autonomy with the RGB lights activated in “cycle” mode.

Charging is ensured by a supplied USB-C to USB-A cable. Even if the latter remains the majority format, we would have appreciated the addition of a USB-C adapter to have top compatibility.

    Audio

From the first listening, the G733 amazes by its relatively balanced sound reproduction, especially in the first half of the spectrum. The vocals are very well put forward and the stereophony, even if it lacks depth, is rather well defined

The default listening profile still suffers from a certain withdrawal from the presence zone (around 4 kHz), characteristic of the majority of gaming headsets . This brings to the general rendering a felted aspect, without being deaf or cavernous. The headphones can thus be used for long hours without causing hearing fatigue.

For a slightly sharper and more defined rendering, you can make a few small adjustments to the application’s graphic equalizer. We can also act subtly on the high end of the spectrum to obtain fuller highs, a more airy rendering, and thus make the most of what the G733 can offer.

We also appreciate the balanced reproduction of the bass which is present and delicately put forward without tainting the highest frequencies. The headset offers a comfortable and appreciable seat, both in games and for listening to music.

In the latter case, the speakers of the G733 can nevertheless show some limits on demanding pieces, especially in terms of precision. The readability and identification of some officiating instruments mainly in this region (double bass, bass, synth pads, bass drum) is not always ideal.

See Also : Nubwo N7 Headset Review

    DTS Headphone

DTS Headphone: X 2.0 virtual 7.1 surround is still featured on this G733. Contrary to certain other algorithms, this one does not add an additional room effect which harms the localization of the various sources, and ultimately to the immersion.

Unfortunately, activating this mode has a detrimental effect on the frequency balance: the rendering is cavernous and the algorithm very clumsily accentuates the LFE channel (extreme bass). To keep all the acoustic qualities of the G733, we will often prefer to keep the stereophonic rendering.

    Microphone

The headset comes with a detachable gooseneck microphone (mini-jack connector). The flexible part does not allow the microphone to be placed correctly in front of the mouth, but this is not really a problem since it picks up the voice without any problem.

That said, without any user intervention, the rendering suffers from a “megaphone” effect caused by a particularly tight response on the midrange – related, in part, to wireless communication. In addition, the sensitivity of the microphone is really low, you absolutely have to push the input level to the maximum to be heard.

The picture is not, however, all black: the microphone distinguishes the voice very well from the surrounding noises and it manages perfectly the whistles and the plosives, and that even without windshield. In addition, the Logitech G Hub application provides the G733 with an incredible list of audio processing (Blue Vo! Ce) to achieve a much more enjoyable result  if you like to get your hands dirty.

  • Logitech G600 Mouse Gaming Test

    logitech mouse

Test Logitech G600 : many buttons does it help?

Logitech presents its special MMORPG (massively multiplayer online role-playing game) mouse, the G600. Here no touch or wireless, but an 8200 dpi laser sensor and a total of 20 buttons including 12 that fall under the thumb.

Is this enough to make players of World of Warcraft and other blockbusters of the genre succumb ? Here are some answers

With its matt coating white in the version received for testing  the G600 displays a sober design. Big advantage of this coating, it does not sweat the palm, a significant point, especially during the hot summer months.

The grip is very pleasant although a longer length would have allowed to support the wrist instead of letting it rest on the desk. The skates deliver a very aerial glide, but they tend to “drop” a little black on the desk.

See Also : Logitech G395 Wireless Headset Review

Before going into the details of the various buttons, let us immediately point out that, due to its shape, the G600 only targets right handed people.

In addition to the traditional right and left buttons, the G600 includes 2 buttons above the wheel, 12 at the thumb and 1 at the ring finger. The non-disengageable wheel allows scrolling horizontally and vertically; or a total of 20 buttons that can be configured at will in the pilot.

The key placed under the ring finger offers a function that allows this already impressive number to be doubled, or almost.

Make easy with Easyshift at Rocat

Indeed, Logitech has implemented a function, very similar to that called Easyshift at Rocat , which allows several functions to be assigned simultaneously to a button. A bit like a key combination “Alt + a key” or “Shift + a key”.

The wheel, for example, is basically configured for vertical scrolling. When you press the Selector button G and use the wheel, you can zoom in on the page.

We thus have the equivalent of 39 fully configurable buttons (action, or macro). Side grip, the use of the many buttons is somewhat complicated, even scary at first. During the first parts of the video game, the different keys located under the thumb are frequently confused; unless we take a break to see where our thumb is.

    Our Opinion

After a week of use, the automatisms begin to set up and it is easy to correctly use the numbered keys from G9 to G14. The use of keys G15 to G20 is in our opinion less practical because you have to move your thumb back a little too much for it to be comfortable. With the Selector G key, this still leaves 12 easily accessible commands on that finger.

In addition to games, this mouse has proven to be very practical for activities such as image editing because it can configure a large number of shortcuts and macros.

Here again, it takes a little time to adapt to navigate; a bit like learning to write without looking at the keyboard; it seems complicated at first, and you end up doing it without thinking about it.

    G600 of  Precision

With a frequency of 1000 Hz, the G600 is able to satisfy both standard uses (office automation, internet browsing, etc.) as well as those requiring precision (gamers, graphic designers, etc.). A mouse for gamers requires a sensor that can hold up to a movement speed of 3 meters per second. No problem for the G600!

    logitech m600

Indeed, this mouse gives its position to the computer every millisecond. However, it is necessary to have a machine capable of handling the additional load that this imposes on the processor (between 30% and 40% depending on the type of movement).

When using a machine limited in terms of processor power (netbook , small low-power processor) it is better to lower the frequency to 500 Hz (in the driver) for more comfort.

    Settings stored in the mouse

To avoid having to reconfigure everything each time the game is changed, the driver allows you to save three different profiles. The color of the keys below the thumb indicates the current profile. Another strong point, the mouse keeps all its settings internally.

When using the G600 on another PC, all you have to do is reinstall the driver to recover all of its settings.

    STRONG POINTS

    • Handling, ergonomics.
    • Excellent glide.
    • Complete software.
    • Sensor accuracy.
    • On the fly sensor resolution adjustment buttons.
    • “Selector G” (assignment of two functions on the same button).
    • User profile saved directly on the mouse (no need to redo all settings each time you change PC).
    • 190 cm wire.

    WEAK POINTS

    • Keys G15 to G20 (under the thumb) not very practical to use.
    • High CPU occupation in 1000 Hz mode.
    • Glides that sometimes leave small black marks on the desk.

    CONCLUSION

In addition to being a fast and precise mouse, the Logitech G600 offers a most pleasant handling (if you are right-handed), a smooth glide, a complete pilot and a first-rate ergonomics. If the 20 buttons are not all very practical to use, the Selector G function allows you to assign two commands to those that are commonly used.

    TECHNICAL SHEET / CHARACTERISTICS

    1. Sensor Laser
    2. Wire / Charging base No no
    3. Food 2 AA batteries
    4. Max resolution 1000 dpi
    5. Transmission speed 125 Hz

The M705 dangles four arguments to seduce:

    1. Record autonomy : 3 years.
    2. A neat look.
    3. A freely selectable or toothed wheel.
    4. A fairly compact shape, for a size halfway between classic mice and office mice.

The first three arguments speak to us. Yes, she is pretty yes  no longer changing your batteries, we love it; yes to the smart wheel once you’ve tasted it, it’s hard to come back. Basically, the dial works normally, with very sharp notches a little too much for our taste. This wheel is therefore quite noisy.

Click once on the button behind the wheel becomes completely free, without any notch. If you give it a boost, it will keep running until it is exhausted. And it drives well! To quickly access the bottom of a very long page, it’s really practical and pleasant.

Afterwards, some will prefer one mode, others the second. This is precisely the advantage when several users are brought to use it a family typically. Each member can use it as it sees fit. My wife always uses it with guts, I always without. Everyone has their own religion.

    For occasional use

Its shape on the other hand does not convince us at all. Quite high and noticeably longer (11 cm) than the so called notebook mice (approx. 9 cm long for their part), it is finally almost as bulky as a normal model. It is still shorter than conventional mice (13.5 cm for the Ikari Laser), which clearly invites a handling that is anything but ergonomic. The base of the wrist rests, fixed, on the desk; only the mouse moves. The gesture is natural but bad quite quickly pain appears.

    logitech M705

We therefore do not recommend this mouse for prolonged use. Out of conscience, we had all the same voluntarily installed it as the main mouse on a workstation used 8 hours a day it did not actually suit us that way. We may well know that it should not be held that way, over long periods of work, it is difficult not to give in to the easy way.

At first, we take great care not to lift the whole hand, then too quickly, by inattention, the wrist is posed. And we pay it cash at the end of the day. A word about the sensor : it’s hyper classic laser, 125 Hz. No need for a mouse pad; on the other hand, other mice will better meet the expectations of gaming experts, or enthusiasts of extreme precision.

    The G500 for example

2 AA batteries = 3 years of autonomyThis is the most obvious point of the mouse: you will almost never change its batteries. Is it delusional as an advertisement? We cannot say: “we tested, it takes three years”. Nevertheless, the promise is not impossible to keep. Logitech has really made progress in its mice in this area. Experience has shown us that, as much their rechargeable models have to return often to their base (which can be annoying, moreover), their battery powered mice are indeed quite autonomous.

    STRONG POINTS

    1. Selectable wheel with or without notch
    2. 3 years of autonomy!
    3. 2 buttons under the thumb
    4. Nice finish
    5. Micro USB connector that does not protrude

    WEAK POINTS

    1. Not ambidextrous (even if it cannot be used with the left hand)
    2. Strange format: too short to be comfortable, too long to be truly mobile
    3. Fixed sensor sensitivity

    CONCLUSION

The rating is hard in terms of its qualities but our experience with it was too painful. Unless you have a small hand?

  • Logitech MX Master 2S Detail Review

    Logitech MX Master 2S

Logitech MX Master 2S test : an evolution that mainly relies on its Flow

Evolution of the MX Master, the MX Master 2S is in appearance identical to its predecessor except for the color. In appearance only, since changes are hidden at the electronic and software level. Let’s see what improvements Logitech has in store for us.

    About MX Master 2S

If the design of the MX Master 2S is strictly identical to that of the MX Master, the same is not true for its colors. Logitech offers three new ones (“graphite”, “teal blue” and “light gray” replace the “black”, “stone” and “navy blue” of the first version).

The recommended public price for the MX Master 2S is € 109, or € 10 more than the MX Master.

    Ergonomics MX Master 2S

The MX Master 2S is a particularly comfortable mouse. It is also particularly imposing and is therefore intended more for large hands with its 85.7 mm wide and 48.4 mm high, for 126 mm in length.

For comparison, the G602 of the same brand, also wireless, but oriented to video games, is a few millimeters longer (139 mm), but is less wide (83 mm) and tall (44 mm) than the Master.

However, we are still far from the massive Asus ROG Spatha , even wider (89 mm), a little less high (45 mm), but much heavier still with its 175 g. Without being light, the Master 2S remains fairly easy to handle with its measured 149 g (145 g on the technical sheet).

However, it is better to forget it for fast video games. It is clearly not designed for nervous movements and this is also why its shape is also rounded. Favoring a palm grip , the fully rested hand. And as such, we can say that the goal is successful. Since the mouse is particularly pleasant to handle, with a shape that follows the lines of the hand, as long as you are right-handed.

    Material

The fingers naturally find their place on the mouse, in particular the thumb which benefits from a very wide location to rest without touching the surface on which the device is placed. This area dedicated to the thumb is textured with triangular shapes that give it a modern look and improve grip, especially since the plastic used is slightly rubberized and grainy.

This material is even used on the top of the mouse without relief, of course and offers a pleasant touch, quite soft and not very slippery. It’s also not messy and seems to limit sweating. The main buttons on the other hand benefit from a smooth plastic, harder and more resistant, but still quite soft.

For aesthetic reasons, the mouse has a metallic effect plastic strip at its base. Plastic found in part on the left edge and on the underside. If it does not give an aspect as luxurious as the bronze effect of the black MX Master, it is nevertheless more sober, which will undoubtedly be preferred by a good number of users. The finish is in any case very neat and only two small screws are visible below the mouse.

    Button

Regarding the buttons, there are a total of 7. Above the click wheel, a button is used, by default, to switch from free scrolling to notched scrolling of the wheel, but it can very well be associated with another function by simply changing the allocation in the configuration software.

There are also the inevitable edge buttons, judiciously placed just above the thumb. We can nevertheless deplore their small size and their positioning one above the other, forcing to activate the one above with the tip of the thumb. Big thumbs might have a little trouble handling them, although that’s a matter of habit.

This unusual position is explained by the presence of a second wheel located in the extension of these buttons, dedicated by default to horizontal scrolling. Convenient for users of spreadsheets, photo editing software, video editing software, etc.

    Logitech MX Master 2S

    Seventh button

You may be wondering where the seventh button is. it’s hard to find just by looking at the photos that illustrate this test. It is actually located at the base of the thumb slot.

You just have to press down with the latter to activate it and activate, by default, the switching between the different open programs in Windows (equivalent to the alt + tab function) or the navigation between the desktops in mac OS.

As with all the other buttons, it is nevertheless possible to assign it a completely different function. Logitech also offers to assign a secondary function to each button, which is activated when you hold down the Fn key on the keyboard. It is even possible to use gestures in combination with this key (sliding the mouse to the right,

    Experience with this Mouse

A big highlight of Logitech mice, the ultra fast scroll wheel is offered here in a more advanced version than on the brand’s other mice. It is indeed capable of automatically switching from a notched scrolling mode to a free scrolling mode depending on the strength of the impulse given with the finger a slow movement and the wheel behaves like any other wheel.

With well marked notches a rapid movement and the dial rotates at full speed, only to stop after several seconds. The intensity required to switch from one mode to the other is adjustable in the configuration software.

Very practical for scrolling through long documents in the blink of an eye, without losing the precision of the notches.

    Switching Mechanism

Although it is not known if the automatic scroll mode switching mechanism has been strengthened, Logitech still claims to have increased quality controls to at least avoid the wheel oscillation problems that we had highlighted. During a survey at the beginning of 2017.

In terms of glide, the PTFE pads ensure smooth movements, even without a mouse pad, although the use of the latter is strongly recommended to limit their wear and gain in comfort of use at the same time.

The sliding is also quite quiet, which is a good point for working in peace. Too bad the main buttons are not more discreet, generating a rather loud click. On the other hand, they turn out to be very reactive, which is appreciable.

    Control Other Device

Like the first MX Master, the 2S is able to control up to three computers thanks to its SmartShift function. The mouse can in fact be connected both via Unifying radio transceivers (2.4 GHz) (a nanoreceiver is supplied with the mouse) and via Bluetooth.

A button below allows you to switch between the different registered channels. In order to connect to the different associated machines, whatever their operating system (Windows or macOS only).

However, this function quickly found its limits among users who had to constantly juggle several systems, to use a laptop at the same time as a desktop computer, for example. It is impractical to manipulate the channel change button located under the mouse. Logitech has nevertheless found the solution with a new technology called Flow. On which it relies precisely to offer this new 2S model.

    Simply to use

Thanks to Flow, you can now switch from one computer to another automatically, without having to press a button! To do this, simply install the Logitech Options software on each computer, then start the Flow feature setup. When we try to move the mouse pointer to the left or right of the screen. It will then switch to the previously designated machine.

Of course, it is better to always position your computers in the same order. So that the changes are logical.

A devilishly effective function, which we can however regret to see only on the new models and not on the old MX Master. Since it is after all only a software technology. But we have to justify the release of this new model and the cost of developing this function, however software it may be.

    Battery Capacity

The MX Master 2S is not, however, just an MX Master with Flow function. Logitech has also improved the electronics of its high-end mouse. Autonomy, first of all, goes from 40 to 70 hours after a simple 3 hour charge.

Strangely, the battery capacity does not seem to have been increased (500 mAh). But we can assume better management of consumption. Icluding an improved wireless transfer protocol thanks to the progress made during the design of the G900.

We also appreciate the possibility of using the mouse for a whole day (8 hours) after a charge of only three minutes. For recharging, simply connect the micro-USB cable to the front of the mouse and USB to the computer. The scope of use, for its part.

    Precision MX Master 2S

The other notable change on this Master 2S is in the sensor. Still of the laser type, Logitech’s Darkfield sensor goes to a sensitivity of 4000 dpi, against 1600 dpi previously.

Above all, it is now possible to adjust the sensitivity in steps of 50 dpi, from 200 dpi (200 dpi steps between 400 and 1600 dpi on the MX Master). It doesn’t change the precision of the mouse, but it becomes more versatile and ready for ultra-high definition.

In addition, we always appreciate the ability of this sensor to work on glass and on a wide variety of materials in general.

    Button The Accuracy

The accuracy turns out to be very good, and if the fastest players will manage to hit the speed limits of the sensor. Let’s not forget that we are here in the presence of a mouse designed for office automation. In fact, we will not recommend it to fans of FPS and other fast games.

Demanding users will also prefer to use it with the Unifying radio receiver rather than Bluetooth. Due to the greater latency induced by this latest technology. Latency bearable, but present.

Easy to use, Logitech Options software allows you to modify the functions of the various mouse buttons. Create user profiles for software and modify main settings. It is also used to configure the new Flow function. Too bad the settings are not saved in the mouse itself or even in line with a user profile.

    STRONG POINTS

    • Grip comfort, ergonomics.
    • Smart scroll wheel and second wheel for horizontal scrolling.
    • 7 configurable buttons, with secondary function.
    • Very practical Flow function for using the mouse with several computers simultaneously.
    • Neat finishes.
    • Precise laser sensor that also works on glass.
    • Good autonomy, fast charging.

    WEAK POINTS

    • Massive design, not recommended for small hands.
    • Quite small edge buttons, not very accessible for big fingers.

    CONCLUSION

Always as pleasant to use as long as you do not have a small hand. The MX Master 2S improves without taking much risk. The arrival of the Flow function is nevertheless a real good surprise. Largely justifying the arrival of this 2S version although it could very well have been added to the previous version.
