  • Logitech G733 wireless headset Review

    Presentation

In August 2020, Logitech presented a new line of colorful gaming products , including the G733 wireless headset. Aimed at PC gamers “ wishing to have a headset with a well-marked identity ”, this model offers a colorful design, and even customizable thanks to original microphone windshields and multicolored headbands sold separately.

It also highlights its RGB backlighting, for even more style, its lightness, the reliability of its proprietary Lightspeed wireless connection and the particularly immersive sound reproduction.

The G733 was launched on September 7, 2020 at a price of 149 €. It is available in four colors (black, white, blue and lilac), one of which is licensed under League of Legends.

    Manufacturing

The design of the G733 contrasts with that of other helmets by offering a design much more elegant than the G635 and G935, but less sober than the Pro range . The ear cups are relatively large and each feature forward-facing RGB lighting in the form of a vertical line.

As with the majority of gaming headsets on the market, the pads are made of memory foam that can easily be detached. The hoop consists of a sliding hard plastic part, presumably reinforced by metal rods, and an elastic suspension strap adjustable on two levels and detachable.

The entire helmet is covered with plastic, matt in places, shiny in others, which gives it a “toy” aspect that is not very reassuring at first. However, the helmet seems sturdy. We noticed no flaws, no squeaks, and we have no complaints about the finishes. The headband design allows it to withstand the worst twists, and the headband looks well made.

    Comfort

What strikes most when wearing the G733 for the first time is obviously its weight of 278 g, much lower than the average for gaming headsets (around 310 g). This lightness, in particular due to the 100% plastic design, is really very appreciable. The helmet can thus be worn for long hours without being felt.

The helmet is placed very easily on the head. The suspension strap conforms to the shape of the skull and distributes the weight evenly. This strap is reversible, adjustable on two levels and can be purchased separately on the Logitech website.

The memory foam and mesh-covered ear cushions are very comfortable and help isolate surrounding noise slightly – sometimes you need to activate mic feedback to hear yourself speak.

Although the comfort of the G733 will suit the majority of users, some may criticize the lack of depth of the ear cups, which can cause unpleasant contact between the anthelix and the speakers after long use. The low range of adjustment of the arch (1 cm on each side) could also pose problems for larger heads.

    Connectivity

Like the Pro X Wireless , the G733 works exclusively wireless. It has no mini-jack input and its USB-C port is only used for charging. It communicates with a USB-A wireless transmitter / receiver using the proprietary Lightspeed protocol. A protocol that works correctly and that did not cause us to suffer any cuts during our tests.

Logitech promises us a range of 20 m which is verified as long as there is no obstacle between the headset and the USB dongle . Depending on the type of obstacle, the range can easily be halved, as sometimes a wall is enough to cut off communication.

    Controls & Application

The G733 is very easy to use: just plug in the USB dongle and power it on, nothing more. The left ear cup has two mechanical buttons that can be distinguished by touch: one for switching on and a “Selector G”.

Preprogrammed for muting the microphone, but which can be reassigned to any other action via the application.

The dial allows you to control the sound volume synchronously with the device to which the headphones are paired. Its placement and sensitivity require you to be careful when handling the headphones, otherwise the volume may be inadvertently changed.

The physical controls of the G733 are therefore simple. We would still have appreciated a control of the sound balance between the game and the chat or an adjustment of the microphone volume directly on the headset, without having to go back and forth between the game window and the application window from Logitech.

The headset is obviously managed by Logitech G Hub, the device manager of the Swiss brand. This software is very comprehensive and allows you to customize in detail many aspects of the helmet. It includes a 10-band equalizer, many sound settings for the microphone, including the Blue Vo! Ce filter, what to manage RGB lighting and what to activate and configure the virtual surround DTS Headphone: X 2.0.

Note that the application is much less complete on macOS than on Windows and that it is simply not available on consoles, which can be a problem, especially since the headset does not keep the changes in memory.

    Autonomy

The G733 ranks among the best wireless gaming headsets in terms of battery life. Our measurements validated the promise of 29 hours of use at moderate volume with RGB lights turned off. That said, the headphones demonstrate an astonishing management of these since they still reach 23 hours of autonomy with the RGB lights activated in “cycle” mode.

Charging is ensured by a supplied USB-C to USB-A cable. Even if the latter remains the majority format, we would have appreciated the addition of a USB-C adapter to have top compatibility.

    Audio

From the first listening, the G733 amazes by its relatively balanced sound reproduction, especially in the first half of the spectrum. The vocals are very well put forward and the stereophony, even if it lacks depth, is rather well defined

The default listening profile still suffers from a certain withdrawal from the presence zone (around 4 kHz), characteristic of the majority of gaming headsets . This brings to the general rendering a felted aspect, without being deaf or cavernous. The headphones can thus be used for long hours without causing hearing fatigue.

For a slightly sharper and more defined rendering, you can make a few small adjustments to the application’s graphic equalizer. We can also act subtly on the high end of the spectrum to obtain fuller highs, a more airy rendering, and thus make the most of what the G733 can offer.

We also appreciate the balanced reproduction of the bass which is present and delicately put forward without tainting the highest frequencies. The headset offers a comfortable and appreciable seat, both in games and for listening to music.

In the latter case, the speakers of the G733 can nevertheless show some limits on demanding pieces, especially in terms of precision. The readability and identification of some officiating instruments mainly in this region (double bass, bass, synth pads, bass drum) is not always ideal.

    DTS Headphone

DTS Headphone: X 2.0 virtual 7.1 surround is still featured on this G733. Contrary to certain other algorithms, this one does not add an additional room effect which harms the localization of the various sources, and ultimately to the immersion.

Unfortunately, activating this mode has a detrimental effect on the frequency balance: the rendering is cavernous and the algorithm very clumsily accentuates the LFE channel (extreme bass). To keep all the acoustic qualities of the G733, we will often prefer to keep the stereophonic rendering.

    Microphone

The headset comes with a detachable gooseneck microphone (mini-jack connector). The flexible part does not allow the microphone to be placed correctly in front of the mouth, but this is not really a problem since it picks up the voice without any problem.

That said, without any user intervention, the rendering suffers from a “megaphone” effect caused by a particularly tight response on the midrange – related, in part, to wireless communication. In addition, the sensitivity of the microphone is really low, you absolutely have to push the input level to the maximum to be heard.

The picture is not, however, all black: the microphone distinguishes the voice very well from the surrounding noises and it manages perfectly the whistles and the plosives, and that even without windshield. In addition, the Logitech G Hub application provides the G733 with an incredible list of audio processing (Blue Vo! Ce) to achieve a much more enjoyable result  if you like to get your hands dirty.

  • Logitech G935 Wireless Headset Review

    Logitech G935 Wireless

    Wireless Headset

Today where everything works without cables, it seems crazy to us to have to play on a wired controller. It’s the same with headsets and earphones, which are increasingly abandoning this aspect.

However, wireless technology is considered by audiophiles to be a disgrace for one simple aspect. The sound signal switches from analog to digital, therefore natively providing signal compression.

Logitech, which has been specializing in gaming equipment for several years now, is trying to offer today with the Logitech G935 a headset that overcomes this concern through its unique technology.

The first report with the helmet really gives you confidence. The box highlights this one with a photo of the helmet, as well as the various selling points. The box itself therefore offers the headphones, charging cables and wired connection as well as the instructions.

    Part Of G935

Regarding the wireless part, Logitech had the good idea to slip the UBS key, mandatory for the use of the headset in the wireless configuration, in one of the ears. In order to balance the whole, we find on the other side the battery, also removable. The helmet weighs its weight, we feel it from our first use.

The headphones themselves are quite large, allowing to encompass the whole ear which is a very good point compared to the comfort that we will have in the long term. This Logitech G935 completely falls into the category of adaptable headsets, offering here an adjustment on the height, but also headphones that can perform a rotation in order to be able to follow the shape of our head.

Regarding the colors, if the whole helmet offers a fairly shiny black, you will find on the other hand a whole backlit aspect. Controllable via the software available on a PC, the LEDs are fully customizable, thanks to a fairly complete RGB management. You will also find several buttons on the volume edge, on the headset, which are also customizable.

    Microphone

Note that for more comfort, Logitech has opted for a retractable microphone system. A good idea if you use the headset more for cinema use than online video games.

The microphone activates only when it is lowered. Regarding the wireless part, the whole works over a distance of ten meters. And regarding its compatibility, you can play wirelessly on PC, PS4 but also on Nintendo Switch.

    Dolby Atmos Testing

We recently told you about the Plantronics RIG 500 Pro which had managed to offer a rather convincing analog headset, in particular with its use of Dolby Atmos. Here, a DTS Headphone X 2.0 certification is offered, with very correct and complete spatialization. We had the opportunity to test the headphones in cinema condition.

The Windows Netflix and OCS applications make it possible in particular to be able to see on your PC a good part of their catalog in 5.1 and some titles in Atmos which allows to be able to have a rather complete first overview of the capabilities of the headset, even with a different certification.

After seeing Jeff Tremaine’s The Dirt , we decided to throw our ear to one of the more recently released and most impressive sound- wise movies. Blade Runner 2049 by Dennis Villeneuve. The observation is clear, the whole 3D spatialization part works wonderfully! The bass is quite deep, and you really feel all the sound design done.

    Conclusion

The result works very well, with a nice balance. The strength of the headphones is this possibility, moreover, in the software of being able to adjust the equalization of the headphones fairly precisely, making it possible to resolve here the concerns that we may have on certain films and games.

To confirm our opinion, we decided to launch the headset for large gaming sessions. The conclusion is clear: the headset is a real success. On some parts of Overwatch or Sekiro, we find ourselves hearing in a fairly precise way all the movements, the position of the enemies and their proximity to us.

It is therefore a helmet that can be very useful especially in a multiplayer context to refine your skills. Even in purely stereo use, the headphones manage to offer correct spatialization, with convincing sound reproduction. Regarding the microphone, we can see that it is of rather good quality.

Little background noise, and a rather clear rendering in the end. We will not go so far as to record a voice-over, in particular because of a sufficient frequency band, but not as open as a conventional recording microphone.

  • The New Reference Screen For PC Gaming : Alienware 34 QD-OLED (AW3423DW)

The New Reference Screen For PC Gaming : Alienware 34 QD-OLED (AW3423DW)

GAMING SUPPORT – During its presentation, the Alienware AW3423DW had already caught our eye thanks to an exceptional technical sheet. In particular, we can find the mention of a QD-Oled panel, the first on the PC market, but also G-Sync Ultimate and HDR True Black 400 certifications as well as a peak brightness announced at 1000 cd / m².

All for a 3440 x 1440 pixel screen, with a refresh rate of 175 Hz. On paper, it’s a screen that seems to tick all the boxes to suit a gamer, but also display a quality image for others. types of content.

Our interest in the screen grew even further when Alienware announced an introductory price of 1300 euros, well below the price one would expect from such a technological showcase and a reputable expensive brand like Alienware.

    Design Alienware 34 QD-OLED (AW3423DW)

The Alienware AW3423DW is a 34-inch curved widescreen in 21:9 format. It’s always impressive the first time you see this kind of monitor placed on a desk: it necessarily takes up a lot of space compared to a more traditional screen. With a curvature of 1800R, the screen remains flat enough to provide pleasant reading outside of video games, without breaking the immersion in them.

The screen has finishes in the good average, but let’s face it, it is not in this area that the brand has spent most of its budget. We therefore have a chassis composed mainly of matte plastic, pleasant under the fingers, but definitely not of high quality.

The target audience, gamers, is not known to ask for a particularly sober design with noble materials according to the manufacturers. No aluminum here, but a configurable LED backlit logo. Finally, the chassis is a not so important design element: apart from the beauty of your interior, you will rarely admire the back of your screen, let’s face it.

Facing the screen, it is rather the integration of the slab that you will have in front of you. The edges are quite thin, which is expected of a modern screen. The real downside is the lower edge, on which we find the Alienware brand logo.

    CONNECTORS

It’s hard to be unhappy with the fine selection of ports offered by Alienware on this screen. There is a DisplayPort 1.4 port, two HDMI 2.0 ports and a 3.5 mm headphone jack output. Another good point, the screen includes a USB 3.0 hub with two USB-A 3.0 ports. It’s practical, it allows you to connect a few peripherals such as a webcam on the screen.

It is a plastic strip placed on top of the rest of the product and you can easily slide your fingernail through it. In other words, one has the impression that one could easily tear it off by pulling. The kind of details that do not really reassure. There is also a defect in Dell screen design: the outline of the plastic frame protrudes slightly from the glass of the slab and allows dust to slip in over the long term.

Last point to note: the screen integrates its power supply. So just connect a conventional cable to turn on the screen. This is convenient for those who use a sit/stand desk, which requires a longer cable than the one supplied.

Dell has also considered end-to-end cable management. A cover allows you to hide the ports on the back of the screen and the foot offers a guide for the wires, which is rather practical to use. In the end, we have a screen which, if it takes up space, knows how to remain as discreet as possible and allows you to properly store your play or work space.

    SUPPORT

The screen is offered with a foot that is fairly easy to mount. Only a hand screw to fix the base and the stand, then you can slide the screen on the base. It takes a few minutes, watch in hand, without the need for any tools.

Once the installation is complete, we find the excellent work done by Dell on most of its screens. The stand is complete and ergonomic: you can adjust the height of the display, rotate it slightly to the sides or back and forth.

With such a display format and a curved panel, you can’t really imagine being able to adjust the screen in portrait mode and this option is not offered. If this is really your need, note that the Alienware screen is VESA compatible, which means that it is possible to use other supports than the one provided by Dell.

We could certainly find fault with some design choices, but overall, we feel that Alienware is the gaming brand of a work screen specialist who knows how to think design and ergonomics together. This gives a gaming screen that is convenient to install and put on your desk and whose display can be adjusted for your comfort.

  • Razer BlackShark V2 : Powerful tones, for enthusiasts

    Powerful tones, for enthusiasts

Recognized for the quality of its headsets intended for gamers, Razer has several ranges that it revisits regularly. Today, it’s BlackShark’s turn to switch to “V2”, as the American likes to call his latest updates. USB sound card and THX Spatial Audio are on the menu.

Between the Kraken, Nari and therefore BlackShark, Razer sometimes has a hard time navigating it or, more precisely, clearly directing amateurs to a particular product. The three ranges are indeed designed for gamers and they all have at least on the most ambitious models THX Spatial Audio (7.1) sound. However, the BlackShark V2 is presented by Razer as the best of its headsets for eSports.

Beyond the “stupid” marketing discourse, we have sought to verify the strengths and the shortcomings, there is no reason of this product.Coming out of its box, the BlackShark V2 surprises.

It does not look like any other Razer headset and the American manufacturer is here more sober than usual. The general design of the product leaves little room for accessories, frills.

Related Post : Razer Kraken X Ultralight Review

    Structure Material Razer Blackshark

The BlackShark V2 takes the metallic structure of its ancestor – the V1 – but leaves aside all the silver inserts to offer a uniform black dress. The general design of the product is somewhat reminiscent of helicopter pilots’ helmets with a design very different from what is usually found on products intended for video games.

Original design and USB sound card

The padding of the central arch is important, giving maximum comfort to the crown of the head without sacrificing the robustness of the product. Less successful, the height adjustment system of the atria can be imprecise. Nothing too embarrassing, but we would have liked Razer to be more attentive to this level, and we would also have appreciated that the hinges allow these same ear cups to be rotated for even more comfort.

Note that the cables which connect each of them to the rest of the headphones and which are responsible for diffusing the sound constitute the only “extravagance” that the manufacturer has allowed itself: they wear the very bright green characteristic of the brand.

Unsurprisingly, Razer remains faithful to the circum aural type that it favors on most of its ranges and, in particular, on the first version of the BlackShark. On the other hand, unlike the latter, there is no longer any question of imitation leather to dress the ear cups which feature a more classic fabric covering. Nothing to report at this level, perspiration is no problem and the comfort provided is more than honorable you can wear the helmet for several hours without feeling discomfort despite the ambient heat.

The weight, barely over 260 grams, has an important part in the perceived comfort. The right headset is devoid of functionality while the left one has the plug for connecting the flexible microphone boom. On the left ear cup, there is also the microphone on / off button and a large volume control button. If the design can surprise, in full part, it is practical to access it very easily.

    Less on consoles

Finally, let us underline the fact that Razer here is satisfied with a wired product. Optionally, you can connect it via the supplied 3.5 mm jack cable (2.1 meters) or add the small USB adapter that contains the THX certified sound card. Please note, USB will only be functional on a PC.

While it is interesting to be able to connect the BlackShark V2 to a wide range of peripherals from a computer to a smartphone via various tablets and game consoles, there are limitations. Indeed, some functions and settings are linked to the use of the sound card integrated into the USB module. In 3.5 mm jack, you will therefore have a more basic headset. Pity.

In the first place, it is the THX Spatial Audio which goes by the wayside. We also lose all the settings present in the Razer Synapse software this goes from a simple audio mixing intended to position the sound around the player to the equalization through the bass boost or normalization functions.

    Complete on PC

On a PC, as long as you are using USB, you will therefore have access to these various features. Here we particularly appreciated the “enhancement” options related to the microphone. Thus, “volume normalization”, “vocal clarity” and “ambient noise reduction” are three settings that we recommend that you activate to enjoy a very good recording.

However, we were only partially convinced by the virtues of THX Spatial Audio. On paper, this feature promises 7.1 sound capable of immersing the player in the heart of the action. A function more intended for FPS / TPS enthusiasts than for RTS enthusiasts.

    Practice for Razer

In practice, you can rely on profiles already prepared by Razer or adjust things to your own preferences.

The profiles in question are still few 18 when leaving the headset and are limited to a few “major” titles. Such as Apex Legends, Call of Duty, Modern Warfare, Counter Strike  Global Offensive or VALORANT.

For our part, we tried the thing on Red Dead Redemption II and Horizon Zero Dawn mainly. Success across the board for everything relating to “environments” whether it is the footsteps of our horse or the noises emitted by the “grazers” that we are preparing to hunt, we benefit from spatialization successful.

    Who of audio reproduction?

    razer

However, things are less convincing when the action is in full swing. The spatialization then seems more confusing and it is difficult to identify the sound sources more precisely than with a simple stereophony. Let’s say there is a little better, but nothing decisive. Finally, but this is probably more a matter of taste, impossible to compare the rendering of THX Spatial Audio with headphones on the head to a real set even only 5.1  living room in the movies.

See Also : hyperx cloud gaming headset review

We lose a lot of detail, precision, immersion. That said, the comparison is also due to the limits of the audio rendering offered by the BlackShark V2. Razer has based part of its marketing campaign on the integration of new drivers, the 50mm TriForce Titanium that it designed itself. On paper, they should make it possible to better distinguish bass, midrange and treble.

This is partly true. In general, one can have the impression of a finer segmentation of the audio spectrum and in a lot of songs, the voices gain clearly in clarity for example. On the other hand, we find a flaw that. Razer has been dragging since the first version of the BlackShark: a preponderance of bass. In general, the builder seems to be a fan of powerful orchestrations and it shows once again.

IN SUMMARY POWERFUL SOUNDS, FOR AMATEURS

It seems that this powerful, spectacular side is having some success with esports players and this is probably the reason why Razer made this choice. Still, music lovers will be at their expense as soon as a composition, rich, plays on many tones, things are less flattering even by manipulating the equalizer. Finally, a quick comment to evoke the microphone capture. There is hardly any criticism to make Razer has done a very good job. The voices are clear, pleasant and no extraneous noise disturbs. Note also the presence of a rather effective windshield at the end of the pole.

The BlackShark V2 is a well made product that we recommend, however, rather to action game enthusiasts, to those who prefer “big sound”. The mids and highs are certainly better processed, better represented than on the previous generation, but the bass remains dominant. Without being stunning, the THX spatialization is effective. But more during rather calm sequences than in the most speedy moments where we lack a little precision.

On the other hand, and even if it is undoubtedly a question of taste, we find it difficult to recommend this THX Spatial Audio for a movie. Finally, special mention for the comfort that one feels with this helmet on the head. Lightweight, “breathable”, it is more pleasant than many of its competitors, even if the adjustment of the ear cups is a little less precise.

  • Logitech G600 Mouse Gaming Test

    logitech mouse

Test Logitech G600 : many buttons does it help?

Logitech presents its special MMORPG (massively multiplayer online role-playing game) mouse, the G600. Here no touch or wireless, but an 8200 dpi laser sensor and a total of 20 buttons including 12 that fall under the thumb.

Is this enough to make players of World of Warcraft and other blockbusters of the genre succumb ? Here are some answers

With its matt coating white in the version received for testing  the G600 displays a sober design. Big advantage of this coating, it does not sweat the palm, a significant point, especially during the hot summer months.

The grip is very pleasant although a longer length would have allowed to support the wrist instead of letting it rest on the desk. The skates deliver a very aerial glide, but they tend to “drop” a little black on the desk.

Before going into the details of the various buttons, let us immediately point out that, due to its shape, the G600 only targets right handed people.

In addition to the traditional right and left buttons, the G600 includes 2 buttons above the wheel, 12 at the thumb and 1 at the ring finger. The non-disengageable wheel allows scrolling horizontally and vertically; or a total of 20 buttons that can be configured at will in the pilot.

The key placed under the ring finger offers a function that allows this already impressive number to be doubled, or almost.

Make easy with Easyshift at Rocat

Indeed, Logitech has implemented a function, very similar to that called Easyshift at Rocat , which allows several functions to be assigned simultaneously to a button. A bit like a key combination “Alt + a key” or “Shift + a key”.

The wheel, for example, is basically configured for vertical scrolling. When you press the Selector button G and use the wheel, you can zoom in on the page.

We thus have the equivalent of 39 fully configurable buttons (action, or macro). Side grip, the use of the many buttons is somewhat complicated, even scary at first. During the first parts of the video game, the different keys located under the thumb are frequently confused; unless we take a break to see where our thumb is.

    Our Opinion

After a week of use, the automatisms begin to set up and it is easy to correctly use the numbered keys from G9 to G14. The use of keys G15 to G20 is in our opinion less practical because you have to move your thumb back a little too much for it to be comfortable. With the Selector G key, this still leaves 12 easily accessible commands on that finger.

In addition to games, this mouse has proven to be very practical for activities such as image editing because it can configure a large number of shortcuts and macros.

Here again, it takes a little time to adapt to navigate; a bit like learning to write without looking at the keyboard; it seems complicated at first, and you end up doing it without thinking about it.

    G600 of  Precision

With a frequency of 1000 Hz, the G600 is able to satisfy both standard uses (office automation, internet browsing, etc.) as well as those requiring precision (gamers, graphic designers, etc.). A mouse for gamers requires a sensor that can hold up to a movement speed of 3 meters per second. No problem for the G600!

    logitech m600

Indeed, this mouse gives its position to the computer every millisecond. However, it is necessary to have a machine capable of handling the additional load that this imposes on the processor (between 30% and 40% depending on the type of movement).

When using a machine limited in terms of processor power (netbook , small low-power processor) it is better to lower the frequency to 500 Hz (in the driver) for more comfort.

    Settings stored in the mouse

To avoid having to reconfigure everything each time the game is changed, the driver allows you to save three different profiles. The color of the keys below the thumb indicates the current profile. Another strong point, the mouse keeps all its settings internally.

When using the G600 on another PC, all you have to do is reinstall the driver to recover all of its settings.

    STRONG POINTS

    • Handling, ergonomics.
    • Excellent glide.
    • Complete software.
    • Sensor accuracy.
    • On the fly sensor resolution adjustment buttons.
    • “Selector G” (assignment of two functions on the same button).
    • User profile saved directly on the mouse (no need to redo all settings each time you change PC).
    • 190 cm wire.

    WEAK POINTS

    • Keys G15 to G20 (under the thumb) not very practical to use.
    • High CPU occupation in 1000 Hz mode.
    • Glides that sometimes leave small black marks on the desk.

    CONCLUSION

In addition to being a fast and precise mouse, the Logitech G600 offers a most pleasant handling (if you are right-handed), a smooth glide, a complete pilot and a first-rate ergonomics. If the 20 buttons are not all very practical to use, the Selector G function allows you to assign two commands to those that are commonly used.

    Logitech M705

    Logitech Marathon Mouse M705 review

    TECHNICAL SHEET / CHARACTERISTICS

    1. Sensor Laser
    2. Wire / Charging base No no
    3. Food 2 AA batteries
    4. Max resolution 1000 dpi
    5. Transmission speed 125 Hz

The M705 dangles four arguments to seduce:

    1. Record autonomy : 3 years.
    2. A neat look.
    3. A freely selectable or toothed wheel.
    4. A fairly compact shape, for a size halfway between classic mice and office mice.

The first three arguments speak to us. Yes, she is pretty yes  no longer changing your batteries, we love it; yes to the smart wheel once you’ve tasted it, it’s hard to come back. Basically, the dial works normally, with very sharp notches a little too much for our taste. This wheel is therefore quite noisy.

Click once on the button behind the wheel becomes completely free, without any notch. If you give it a boost, it will keep running until it is exhausted. And it drives well! To quickly access the bottom of a very long page, it’s really practical and pleasant.

    logitech M705

Afterwards, some will prefer one mode, others the second. This is precisely the advantage when several users are brought to use it a family typically. Each member can use it as it sees fit. My wife always uses it with guts, I always without. Everyone has their own religion.

    For occasional use

Its shape on the other hand does not convince us at all. Quite high and noticeably longer (11 cm) than the so called notebook mice (approx. 9 cm long for their part), it is finally almost as bulky as a normal model. It is still shorter than conventional mice (13.5 cm for the Ikari Laser), which clearly invites a handling that is anything but ergonomic. The base of the wrist rests, fixed, on the desk; only the mouse moves. The gesture is natural but bad quite quickly pain appears.

    logitech M705

We therefore do not recommend this mouse for prolonged use. Out of conscience, we had all the same voluntarily installed it as the main mouse on a workstation used 8 hours a day it did not actually suit us that way. We may well know that it should not be held that way, over long periods of work, it is difficult not to give in to the easy way.

At first, we take great care not to lift the whole hand, then too quickly, by inattention, the wrist is posed. And we pay it cash at the end of the day. A word about the sensor : it’s hyper classic laser, 125 Hz. No need for a mouse pad; on the other hand, other mice will better meet the expectations of gaming experts, or enthusiasts of extreme precision.

    The G500 for example

2 AA batteries = 3 years of autonomyThis is the most obvious point of the mouse: you will almost never change its batteries. Is it delusional as an advertisement? We cannot say: “we tested, it takes three years”. Nevertheless, the promise is not impossible to keep. Logitech has really made progress in its mice in this area. Experience has shown us that, as much their rechargeable models have to return often to their base (which can be annoying, moreover), their battery powered mice are indeed quite autonomous.

    STRONG POINTS

    1. Selectable wheel with or without notch
    2. 3 years of autonomy!
    3. 2 buttons under the thumb
    4. Nice finish
    5. Micro USB connector that does not protrude

    WEAK POINTS

    1. Not ambidextrous (even if it cannot be used with the left hand)
    2. Strange format: too short to be comfortable, too long to be truly mobile
    3. Fixed sensor sensitivity

    CONCLUSION

The rating is hard in terms of its qualities but our experience with it was too painful. Unless you have a small hand?
